Type 625 is the self use version, which will be publicly equipped in China’s air defense forces in 2021. The vehicle uses 6-barrel 25mm Gatling guns and is equipped with 4 × HN-6B or FN-16 anti-aircraft missiles on both sides of the turret, which is a long-range integrated anti-aircraft system.
Its chassis was developed from the MV3 truck, adding a pair of axles on top of the 6X6 truck, making it a highly maneuverable chassis for the 8X6. It can be transferred and maneuvered on the road, and has excellent off-road capabilities, allowing it to quickly reach combat positions.The maximum speed can reach 90km/h.
As it is a reduced and cheaper model, some Type 625s are not equipped with a search radar and are commanded by a command vehicle. Therefore, it is recommended to use the radar as a modification, and it is not equipped by default. Its main weapon is a 6-barrel 25mm machine gun that can fire AHEAD shells and effectively shoot down aircraft at close range. At long distances, it can use the HN-6B or FN-16 air defense missile, which has good anti-interference performance and high hit rate. It is an excellent missile and is widely equipped in air defense vehicles.
The positioning of the vehicle is similar to the Pantsir-S1 air defense system, which is an attempt by China to integrate wheeled ammunition and artillery. Some of the previously developed technologies for integrating wheeled ammunition and artillery were ultimately used to develop the Type 625 air defense vehicle. It integrates many advanced technologies and has good single vehicle combat capabilities.

FN-16
FN-16 is a new generation of individual air defense missile that uses infrared/ultraviolet imaging guidance heads, which can attack in all directions. It has the ability to ignore launch, high accuracy, and strong anti-interference ability. It is mainly used for field air defense, intercepting fixed wing aircraft, helicopters, cruise missiles, and drones invading at low and ultra-low altitudes. This is the foreign trade version of HN-6B, so the performance is almost the same.
