I’m not too concerned about the basket if anything I think it’s worth arguing for the fuel tank under neath the crew which always results in the whole tank blowing up in one shot
I don’t think there is a fuel tank like that on the real tank and definitely won’t blow the whole thing up
However, look very closely at the bottom of the structure hanging from the turret. There is no solid floor. It is a suspended framework, not a closed tub-style basket like on the Abrams or Leopard.
This is actually a massive discovery because it perfectly aligns with the JGSDF manual I posted!
If this suspended structure has an open bottom, it explains exactly how the crew can access the emergency escape hatch on the hull floor (Diagram 3.png).
The issue with War Thunder’s X-Ray model is that Gaijin modeled it as a solid, completely closed basket that blocks everything beneath it. Your photo proves that while a structural frame exists, the solid floor does not. So the in-game damage model is still fundamentally flawed and contradicts both the manual and this photo.
Thank you again for the photo, it actually solves the mystery of the hatch!
Yup still an issue. BVM and T90M are full of goofy spots with infinite armor.
After the update I also encountered a few strange situations that I had never dealt with before, such as M829A3 shell can evaporate and deal ZERO damage to:
T-90M cannon (happened twice)
T-80BVM LFP
T-80BVM side (happened many times)
There are no other top tier MBTs so unpredictable, even with accurate aiming.
Is this common? Yes, and it’s incredibly frustrating, especially since almost every hit on a NATO MBT takes it out of action because of the turret ring and FCS.
