Type 10 and tkx why arent their turrets faster?

Many people have already brought up the type 10/tkx lackluster acceleration, but not a lot of people speak on the horrific turret rotation and elevation speeds. Obviously as a lightly armored vehicle as is (and there having been reported certain areas of the vehicle being weaker than it should be), your best bet is flanking, but a combination of bad suspension and poor gun handling makes that difficult. This is on par with ussr turrets on older tanks that are way more armored. It seems very questionable for a lighter tank with a lighter turret that is also much newer. What sources does gaijin have that indicates the type 10s turret speed is roughly 40 degree/s stock?

It could very well be wrong and I’m not going to comment either way to that effect, but… Turret rotation is tied to crew skill which is kinda stupid but here we are.

So they have 21°/s with maxed crew but no expert/ace and 30°/s with ace. (Even slower without the mods)

So that might be in part why it feels abnormally slow as ace would be the “correct” speed.

Reporting turret rotation speed is tricky. I see several failed bug reports on the bug reporting site

that though disagreeable is not necessarily my issue. This nonaced turret speed is way higher for comparable nato style tanks with obviously heavier turrets. It seems strange that this lighter tank has a substantially slower turret rotation speed. So, it would at least be helpful if the source for this ridiculously low speed can be determined

iirc it was bug reported ages ago (a document mentioning the type 10 had Leo2 levels of traverse, don’t quote me though, was 2 years ago) and just never got pushed to live

Simple answer is that they simply copied the Turret traverse of the Type 90s, and never thought to change it (along with a myriad of other unsolved issues with the type 10 in WT, like the CVT transmission, FCS, Autoloader, general mobility, traction… etc)

it would be a competitive tank despite its thinner armor if its composites were modeled correctly, it had the proper acceleration and it had realistis turret traverse, even on these crappy cqc maps it wasnt designed for

i saw the cvt was passed, but this better transmission (which is what it has irl) still has yet to be implemented

eh?
Isn’t it 30/s fully upgraded?

its bad but not that bad

thought so

anywho the Type 10 got low balled

Yeah, wouldnt be surprised if it was more like 35-40 (or something like the Challenger 2, where its normally 30/31 but can be overriden by the commander if needed but that isnt something Gaijin models or something like that)

In cases of “[figure] or more” they always just take that figure. Getting anything more can be a chore.

oh ok i think its because i upgraded crew. i dont have horizontal drive unlocked yet but both sit around 40 deg with max gunner and commander

30 is the max, fully modded and ace crew

that info might be out of date my type 10, horizontal drive not unlocked yet

Interesting. Wiki isnt usually wrong. So whats the issue?

41 is faster than most

The 40+ degrees per second shown is arcade stats, the 30 degrees you stated is still correct for realistic stats. Arcade stats can’t be used to begin with when arguing about if any vehicle is underperforming or not since they always have higher/exaggerated stats compared to those of realistic and sim which are based on historical performance still (ignoring still if said performance they have is accurate or not).

Tbh it’s still stupid how crew speed affects turret traverse to such a great extent given the tanks we have are far past the point of being stuck with manual traversal while at the same time even when autoloaders wouldn’t reload faster of course from better reloading crew skills still don’t seem to have any effect on replenishing said autoloader when it has to be manually replenished.

Ah… that would make sense. Its rare for the wiki to be wrong.

Crew skills just need to be scrapped and redone imo

ah ok still arcade stats shouldnt be completely ignored because again the stats for other mbts in regards to gun handling is better in both ab and rb as well as the acceleration issues

idk why you’d ask for a source for a stock tank in Arcade
