TWS on Helicopters?

Recent addition of TWS functionality to the Ka-52 and Wildcat’s respective radars struck me as a bit odd. Wasn’t mentioned in the update’s changelogs, only remotely related thing there is a range buff for the 52. Wasn’t added to other helicopters too even though I’m fairly certain something like the Longbow or N025 would have that sort of capability. Was this even intentional?

Both helos lack any armament that could make use of TWS (even datalink is apparently omitted, but I can see why), though just having targets show up in third person HUD does make target acquisition trivial. There was also the Ataka multi-target bug which tbf was pretty amusing when I tried it in PvE.

Probably has something to do with the planned inclusion of helicopters into NE, still a bit weird though. Is this also hinting at future mmW additions perhaps?

Cant comment much, but should be noted the Seaspray radar on the Wildcat is AESA. Might set it apart from a few of the others in Gaijins eyes. No idea about the KA-52s radar though

But for aircraft we saw GMTI added slowly to aircraft over a few updates, wouldnt be surprised if TWS to helis was added in the same way

True… but is meant to be AESA at the very least

yes and i doubt we will see it changed because the ka52 will be at a disadvantage and we can’t have that

for now, ASMs for the Wildcat were considered as future additions in the devblog iirc

would need the Ka-52K for the Ru side but they’re probably just added the functionality anyway

Only other Heli would be the end-of-line Mi-8, should also have an AESA

Right, that explains it. As for Ka-52 I’m pretty sure it’s non-ESA, as the x-ray shows a big ol’ dish. Still weird that it even gets TWS as the one we have ingame seems to be an earlier model (pending additions such as the Ka-52K/52M). I dunno though, just felt that it would make more sense to add it to the NM first.
