Since the latest update, the “Select Radar Target to Lock” function in TWS mode cycles through friendly aircraft as well as enemies. Previously, it only selected enemy targets and ignored friendlies. Is this an intended change or a bug?
iff isnt even showing neither
My post in this thread might help for this:
This way you won’t be able to see the friendlies nearby, if there are two people dogfight you wouldn’t know, generally speaking the risk of team killing got up with this update.
its ,mostly a bug it happens in all modes
Now able to lock onto friendlies in ground RB. (I found that out the hard way in a previous match)
Previously, friendlies were unable to be selected as targets.

Also, the IFF filter indicator is gone. Upon restarting the game, it’s back, but I can still target allies.

Thank you for the suggestion, but as other players have already stated, this is not a completely viable solution. Filtering friendlies prevents them from appearing on the radar, which significantly reduces situational awareness.
It can also increase the risk of TK, because you may engage an enemy without knowing an ally is nearby. As we all know, fox3 missiles have a tendency to lock onto friendlies when they are close to the intended target.
You can bug report it here: Gaijin.net // Issues (just search a bit first so that you don’t report something that is already reported and known about)
A guide on how to report bugs can be found here: ([Navigation] Technical Knowledge Base | War Thunder Wiki)
Found this existing bug report: Community Bug Reporting System
Could you help give visibility to this issue?
Sadly not. you can click the “i have the same issue” button to give the bug more visibility.
God, this bug is annoying.
Rest assured they’re not even gonna bother to fix this issue considering their focus rn is on infantry.
The developers got the bug report just 6 days ago. You can’t judge the time it has taken to fix it from the moment you noticed it as the devs might not even have known of it’s existence until a while later.
Hoping for a fix to this, sadly does seem like the focus is on infantry instead of fixing bugs.
Guess all we can really hope for is that they don’t forget about this.
Apparently it’s a part of a update called “IFF filter”.
Why isn’t there an option that lets you toggle it without having to bind a key?
First the TWS having it’s automatic position reset removed, and now this.
Don’t give me the stuff about realism. Real jets have automatic TWS reset options.
Control creep is getting out of hand.
Some day we’re gonna get a gun and missile safe keybind before we can even fire anything (stares down at the “7P RDY” UI)
Some day, perhaps, we’re gonna need to turn on the APU before we can fly…oh wait, the “power” modules are already there. It’s only a matter of time.
These features wouldn’t even be an issue if there are automated shortcuts for them. For example, tilting your radar can easily be replaced by mouse axis control + a keyboard key (1 key) instead of having to WASD the radars (4 keys).
Real jets have a lot of things that are not implemented or only halfway implemented in WT.
A lot of RWR’s also have options to disable displaying/warning certain emitter types, that’s also completely lacking in WT. But it would be great if I could depending on situation and threat disable the constant, very distracting pings of SAM’s which are on the other side of the map and completely irrelevant to my current situation.
Well, WT isn’t DCS, and it shows especially when it comes to issues like those…
What I am not happy about is that ambiguity that I often observe when it comes to such gameplay aspects: If on one hand some aspects are “softened” in the game for accessibility and/or balance reasons, but on the other hand it is insisted on that something must be exactly like IRL, and must be proven with first hand sources, the outcome of such decisions one way or the other will always lead to confusion and frustration…
