It seems to me the targets end up going into a notch. PD radars are prone to being notched and can loose target track. Plus the Phoenix gives a “MSL” warning on RWRs so most players will start notching when they notice the missile.

Are you talking about targets disappearing off the TWS screen? It might be the limits of the radar itself. Mechanical radars can only scan and refresh so much, along with other limitations that mech radars have. It would probably be more beneficial to narrow your radar scan in TWS mode to get a faster refresh rate.
