Have you too been killed by someone you can’t see or hear even though they’re RIGHT next to you? Don’t worry, it may not be your fault. Turns out, it’s part of the game’s coding.
Brought to you by “Gladiator” on YouTube, it turns out Keen Vision not only affects being able to see someone but also if they even render in for the audio! Thought I’d add this for all the folks wondering why they’re watching tanks render in and out or can’t hear someone right next to them.
Surprised me too. I thought it was strictly for arcade but turns out it’s mandatory even for realistic and simulator battles just to know someone is there. I wonder if this is from the anti-cheat rendering change.
It’s part of the internal anti-cheat solution.
Cheaters can’t see tanks if they’re not visible.
LOS renders the tank, and “audible range” renders the tank.
I’ve mentioned it so many times and been attacked so many more times for even saying it that it feels like I’ve been vindicated…
Even though theree appears to be a bug with the system that’s being demonstrated with the video evidence here as it’s not working the way it truely should in some instances.
I am checking this out because it is happening in Arcade Air Battles too. The Higher the tier/rank your stable of vehicles is the worse it gets.
In AB repeatedly in the last three days as I tried to run high alt bombers, I have been checking my situation, audibly and visually before I go into my level bombsite.
At least a half a dozen times I have looked, using mouse look. Nothing there.
I LISTEN. I can nominally HEAR an enemy plane at 3k, I get the wind noise, but not always
I do all of that, do the right checks. Get into my bombsite and I am instantly under heavy gunfire taking hits. There are times when I switch out and still cant SEE what is shooting me, until finally it renders in. I say render instead of spawn. Spawn implies they just appeared there. No they were there the Client didn’t render them in.
For me 4.0 and up makes playing bombers actually unplayable. So this is in Air Arcade Battles as well, not just tanks. Probably in Ships too, but not enough folks play that who make big enough noises about this mess.
hope it doesn’t. Tanks for the longest time were a vast mystery. More than half the time I died, what killed me didn’t render into the scene until after I watched the kill cam. Then they would appear on MY screen as I was in spectator mode, and POOF there they there were just 50 yrds away.
If it is a render distance thing. Then there may be and “options” thing where you can adjust it. I mean you can make Grass go away when in Snipe Mode in tanks, so who knows.
I know it’s a thing in Air Realistic Battles and Simulator Battles for max range render. Really sucks for air sim as well when you’re trying to find targets, but nothing will render in due to a fake spotting skill.
EDIT: I play on max and still watch planes poof into existence at range. Really shouldn’t be a thing anymore seeing how they’re FINALLY putting anti-cheat into the game.
I realised this myself a few years ago. I thought it was the bushes you put on the tank that made you invisible… Apparently, it’s your crew’s skill… So if you’re at 0, you have a crew made up of deaf and blind people… I don’t think that in real life the army would allow disabled people to drive a tank capable of destroying a building… Apparently Warthunder is not realistic at all.
Funnily enough, it used to NOT be this way. I forgot when (life has been hectic so the passage of the last decade has wizzed by) but enemy players used to ALWAYS be rendered. However, when the cheat scandal blew up, this was Gaijin’s fix to that instead of implementing a proper anti-cheat. I really feel like they’ve lost their way on what made the game great back in the day. Then again, they still haven’t fixed the laser guided bomb bug that makes LGBs literally useless so can’t say I’m too terribly surprised by that.
