TU-95´s control surfaces

I have noticed that my control surfaces of the tail on the TU-95 are easily destroyed when hit by a missile, so I looked on X-ray of the plane and found out that the control surfaces hitbox (or model) was OUTSIDE the Tupolev´s airframe, I want to ask if it is the reason it gets easily destroyed or if its normal.
