sometimes the dev who started the account transferring appears to tell us nobody is working on it as there are more pressing matters but that’s about it

I mean @gromvoiny (the developer behind the unlinking process) has stated that he’d like to do it eventually, and is just missing the manpower and/or the time for automating the process or at least making it better.
We only really need to wait (and pray).
but then again im just running on hopium over here so like idk

Hey, I was wondering if the account transfer thing could be coming back cuz wasnt it “temporarily suspended” in like 2024 and I havent heard about it since then. And I also want to know what it exactly even does.
none of us have no idea, but my best guess is we are going to have to wait around half a year at least, that is if they even remember this exists
it splits your account in two:
- Console account (XBOX/PSN): your old account basically. It unlinks your email and makes it unlinkable, meaning you will only be able to use that account in your console, not pc
- PC account: the new account (kind of). It has your old linked email, though i’m pretty sure you will need to contact support to reset your password to be able to get access to it. Has no restrictions (eg; you can access the marketplace, buy packs on pc, access more frequent sales, etc). You will keep all of your progress and event vehicles, as well as SL. Keep in mind premium currency (ge) and a few other things won’t be transferred due to platform restrictions, so you should spend them before you apply, when (if) it eventually reopens.
Man, thats whack, i play on PC now and want my stuff for my steam account, i spent quite some money like a lot of others i am sure, it can´t be that hard to transfer progress
unfortunately transferring progress from one account to another is nearly impossible, as, one of the developers have said before, most of the game stats/information for an account is jumbled up in one place, which makes it difficult enough as-is to unlink it the way they are doing it now
trust me, i used to want to transfer all my progress to my steam account as well, but now im really just waiting for the unlinking process to open so i can at least have access to the market and stuff
Than they can at least gift me the premium vehicles i purchased, i mean, other games manage progress transfer as well

gaijin handles user account data very differently than most games (i think dont quote me on that)

Gaijin in their infinite wisdom, created away for people on console to link their accounts with a PC account so progress could be shared between the two platforms.
In typical Gaijin haste and laziness, they only automated the linking process, (which is so automated now that is is done automatically upon creation of a console account) but never automated away to “unlink or transfer” the account to one that is solely PC based, and has relied on people manually copying and pasting data from save files.
The separation is necessary for the accounts because Gaijin wont change their ways enough to create a true cross-platform experience.
Gaijin must have somehow assumed that people linking their accounts would want to keep playing the game on both, but completely ignored the obvious that people linking accounts would actually be moving away from console and onto PC.
Support provides you with a password, then once logged into it you have to change it.
Sorry about the late response, I had to play a few games over the last few days just to be able to post this as yet another thing Gaijin refuses to fix is the game detection of the forums…
Gaijin has our game data saved in such away that our account “file” has all of gaijin’s games data under it in one place. Thats why you would loose all progress and purchases during the current transfer system as they are only hand copying WT’s data.
Could they copy over the other PC game data to your new account as well? Easily, The other games dont share data cross platforms so it would be easier than WT’s.
They just dont.
Other games/devs have worked closer with the console companies to make this happen. They also usually keep any different games a single dev makes to separate accounts so the data isnt all mixed up between games.
I dont even play WT anymore other than to keep access to this particular fourm.
Gaijin clearly has no interest in making the game better, or progressing it beyond the current state.
Once my account is out of limbo ill probably pick up playing star conflict, but will definitely not be paying as much into it as I have WT.

Nothing has changed. You are still in limbo like the rest of us if you are looking to make the full switch to PC.

the only reason i haven’t started a brand new account or just switched to my steam account is i have a couple event vehicles i really like (both NT rewards, t34 partisan, r400, etc) and i don’t feel like buying them from the marketplace
