I think WT can have a training mode for air battle, a mode that differ from the test drive mode, a mode that focus at 1v1 that help player understand the the advantages of their plane and the weakenesses of the enemy plane. Players can choose what plane they gonna fight, what armament they gonna use, the play style of the AI and what map you using that very similar to what we had seen at custom battle.
Idk why but I read trading mode at first. That would be great. Training mode however. Let everyone learn it hard way imo. Its not like pilots in ww2 could just train with their enemys outside of engagement.
Well, what’s wrong with custom battles?
Isn’t there something called the “Mission Editor” at the left bottom corner of the screen when going into a test drive?
There is, it got limited options, but can also be used for practice dogfight.

I know this but it only good for low tier dogfight but it can’t do the BVR or any thing that involving anti-air missile, which the player need training the most. And also even with the mission editor the AI pilot skill still quite wonky, it can fly like tom cruise in Top Gun at a second but crashed to the ground next second, and also it can’t customise the loadout you gonna face.
this seems a lot like either the mission editor or just a custom battle.
Customs can easily be done for BVR / learning to evade missiles. If you have friends to play with you can mess around with them in it, otherwise there should be at least someone somewhere wanting to practice.
Actually every parties in the war trying so hard to captured enemies aircraft just to understand how they work and help train their pilot counter them.
Ok, now here the difficult part, I lack the elements of “friends” in this game because they saying this game is hard 😅😅😅

Reddit, this forum(Maybe? Im not sure if theres an LFG on the forum), and other online communities around the game are loaded with people who probably would be down to practice BVR.

While mission editor does not feature starting alts, starting distances, starting bearing, Bot skill (The AI we have cannot fly jets at all, so better consider as none) , Bot style etc., and you are always assigned a 4 plane squad
Mode where you can just evade ARH missiles, would be great to help the top tier learning curve
The problem with custom battles is that you can only change the map, what country the AI is from and what approximate BR the AI is. The min - max BR range doesn’t work, AI has no weapons and they are completely broken. The AI either fly mach 1+ no matter the plane or altitude or have completely cracked flight model where they will win any dogfight.
Test flight is good for testing ground weapons but you cannot practice dogfights against the AI that does nothing.
Mission editor is no better, you have a limited option based on the nation you want to fly as and 90% of the AI will nosedive into the ground right at the start or will fly off into orbit never to be seen again.
A better custom mission editor is absolutely needed, or just fix the ones already in-game to a usable state.

I used to practice my new planes in custom battles using whatever the game had as basic settings, that often turned into enemy team being all tail-gunner armed il-2s that made wanting to practice shooting with “Stick & rudder” a bit… unhealthy.
Now I can force fighter-on-fighter action against increasingly nimble foes!
Hopefully my gunnery improves accordingly.
They do though. It’s just random what planes the enemy brings and how competent they are.
You can even make full on 16v16 battles where you’re the only player around. Only issue I found is every bot ends up spawning bombers/strike planes and their tailgunners will tear you apart if you get so much as within 1 km even at high aspect (they seem balanced for arcade/RB even in SB regimes).
