but the launcher folding is unrealistic though, we have plenty of footage of bradleys in combat situations keeping their launcher unfolded (they are able to, a previous forum user noted there is a switch to turn off the folding and provided evidence) If you know enemies are fairly close by why would you refold and unfold the launcher multiple times
yes they should, its accurate
again footage exists of the launcher not folding, there is a switch inside the bradley to disable it, and it is nonsensical to repeatedly fold and unfold the launcher when you are in a battlefield. The point of that is to prevent damage to the launcher through hitting branches or other obstacles when traveling through long distances. Since tanks dont repeatedly rotate their turret backward when moving long distances nor do barrels have collision, this is a pointless feature
Crews arnt supposed to have it unfolded on the move due but do it anyways.
not in the middle of a combat zone where enemies are nearby regardless
There is not a switch. The gunner lowers the TOW launcher because the armored launcher box is very heavy and its pivot and actuator would be damaged if left up while on the move. The game simulates this by making the box or the hammerhead on the ITV stow when it goes faster than a walk. Which is the way it should be.
Please search the forum for the last time your “idea” was shown to be false.
Also, please post a link showing Ukranians running around with the launcher up.
for the first point , makes sense when a bradley is on the move, not when a bradley is near enemies the damage is long term, therefore keeping the crew alive takes priority. When on the move tanks typically rotate their turret backwards to support the barrel, this game does not model that. For the second point, I cannot because it is not allowed to share war footage here
And that is wrong too.
when tanks are moving outside of a combat zone, they do so to prevent the barrel from hitting obstacles, that is not modeled in game. youtube.com/watchsi=6tgMU7Et5qAu9rDQ&t=1410&v=YklKDI3XqTU&feature=youtu.be shows that the tow launcher folding and unfolding is controlled by the crew. Long term stress is irrelevant in warthunder because you can drive tanks into walls and obstacles with the gun facing forwards, making this an example of selective realism
The game pretends at realism because too much realism is not much fun. However, things like the Brad’s TOW launcher are a integral characteristic of the vehicle and is important to capture. You know, because its trying to be realistic.
You have zero chance of getting Gaijin to change it BTW.
ok so you admit it is selective realism. If the game is trying to be balanced, then maybe allow you to manually adjust the launcher up or down, because it greatly cripples such vehicles even though most ifvs do not have to deal with this
The other side of your argument is that if you did try to drive faster than 20 kph with the launcher up you break it. Opps.
it doesnt break right away from driving above 20 kph, the concern is long term, by that logic barrels should break when you drive barrelfirst into multiple obstacles, lets not kid ourselves here
Also wrong again. The launch box isn’t the same as a barrel. The only one kidding themselves here is you.
my point was that barrels dont break when they hit walls in game (they cant hit walls they dont have collision, so neither should launchers). Also the reason why the launcher goes down while on the move is based on reccomendations not necessity, so in the long term less maintenance needs to be done on the launcher, otherwise a manual switch wouldnt exist on the vehicle. Do you have any evidence that having the launcher down is extremely crucial and the launcher would break above 20 kph?

Yeah exactly we’re they supposed to? yes. Did they ?hell no
but my point is you do a lot of things that you arent supposed to do but can do in the game such as the barrel collision against walls
They flat out stated they wouldn’t add that, years ago
