i recently got to us 8.3 and unlocked both the m901 and bradley. They are otherwise fine vehicles, but the fact their launchers always fold when they move above a certain speed is both ridiculous and unrealistic, the abysmal time it takes to redeploy the launchers have gotten me killed so many times. The folding is intended for when these vehicles are moving to a battlefield, not while they are actively in a battlefield
Unrealistic? Got any proof for that. U can even fire them on the move, so the folding away doesn’t change much, u still gotta use the only to surprise a heavily armoured enemy
The Bradley does not have to close its TOW launchers while on the move.
It’s because it faces russian IFVs, so it has to be bad.
not allowed to post irl war footage but there are multiple videos of bradleys on the ukrainian battlefield with the tow launcher unfolded. Even if not for that, the launcher folds to preserve long term durability such as from hitting branches and the like. Do you think in the middle of a battle, where other vehicles shooting at you is a far greater concern, these vehicles would waste time to redeploy the launcher whenever they need to? At least for the bradley there is a switch to keep the launcher deployed in such conditions
If it’s realistic, it’s realistic.
Just like the FSC change for the leopard 2s.
Selective realism at it again
And like the FCS for Russian tanks that was disabled when implemented ? Or the autoloader eating all the spall ?
There are also atgm carriers on the soviet tt that folds in their atgm when they move…
Which ones?
Which ones?
Shturm-S folds down when moving, one that I know of off the top of my head. HOWEVER, the Khrizantema-S does NOT fold down when driving. The Kriz does require you to to stop moving to fire, but w/e.
It’s already in game.
Yes, just like those. And APCR, and she’ll shatter, and HESH, 20mm mine shells 35mm APHE and lots of stuff.
ok well thats stupid either way, the notion that they would not deploy the launchers in the middle of a battlefield wasting 10 or so seconds that could mean life or death is patently absurd. Its still selective realism because most of the other missile launchers dont have to deal with this handicap. Its also selective realism because barrels dont have collision yet missile launchers have real world handicaps
the bradley has a certain speed threshold for folding its launcher, try keeping it slow if you need tows on the ready
its not really a frontline ifv, and i don’t recommend you using it as one, its more of a scout/support vehicle with some pretty good features (like the thermals+ess combo) for longer range combat
i am aware of the functions, but in certain maps it has no options but to be a frontline ifv, therefore there is no reason for the launcher to fold above a certain speed because in combat situations it is not realistic. it is more problematic with the m901 because it also has to rotate 180
And like the FCS for Russian tanks that was disabled when implemented ?
No? FCS on MBTs did not do much of anything prior to RU MBTs getting it, and it has the same function post-RU MBTs getting it.
When an MBT’s FCS was disabled, it never lost the ability to fire, only loses STAB/Thermals/LRF and the like, and that still applies today.
Or the autoloader eating all the spall ?
Turret basket also eats spall. Null.
you can fire them on the move?
Under 20 kph. 1st “gear” basically.
Anything that doesn’t work in favor of american vehicles is labeled unrealistic
