Toughts on Su-22M4 WTD 61

Hello fellow team mates,

I would like to share some toughts and ask for a few insights regarding the recent Pre-order pack annouced for Su-22M4 WTD 61.

While watching a couple of reviews on the Su-22 family planes I could notice a very acid critic regarding the Zoom in the internal camera, how it is not useful while guiding laser guided missiles.

I would like some tips of yours about how to proper guide Laser Guided missiles, since the system seems a bit funky.

Also, I could notice that the screen presented in the cockpit of the planes, such as Su-22M4 WTD 61 or Mig-27K is a thermal monitor, (well, its B/W)

Is there any way to use thermal imagers in this camera?

Last bot not least, do you guys think a Copy Paste from a plane from the Tech Tree is actually worth 60 pounds?

Thank you all,

Sincerely, yours…

I played the su22m4 in ground and can say by that that the zoom will be that bad but isn’t that big of a problem you need to get close which is quite dangerous. No thermal ig. Weapons are gretad. I think its overall better than the tornado WTD because of more flares and missile. I had a pretty good time flying the russian one especially since new BR changes

Overall the issues, the Su-22 is a pretty bad aircraft if the team don’t get control over the skies, but this one features a good set of air-to-ground ordnances. It may act as extra CAS filler for Germany, If I’m not wrong it got the 30 km range TV guided air-to-ground missiles don’t it? The Kh-29TE.

The Kh29T (only T) and it tracks tanks from only 6 km away. Everything behond that just make the missile go for one point but not follow a target.

Ah great, another German air ~11.3 premium, just what we needed.

From a Sim standpoint I’d strongly disagree: It’s a good bomber with surprisingly good self defense capabilities thanks to 6x Aphids that can be carried in addition to the bombs (here, firebombs are to be recommended). Love to fly it, handles surprisingly well even in dogfights.

As with all Russian attackers so far (Su-22, Su-25), I am however not coming to terms with their guided missiles: Tricky to use, as you need to not only guide the missile (or laser designation), but at the same time also the aircraft so you don’t get out of FOV. So in all that time until the missile hits you bear straight down at t he target, penetrating deeper into the enemies air defense bubble, which is rarely healthy… This I guess is also what would affect their efficiency in GRB as CAS aircraft…

Boy, do I have a solution for you. Way too many rockets. Who needs accuracy when you can flatten the general area your target is in and still likely score more target kills than the guided ordnance?

In fact, I bought the pack with Sim in mind. Air RB is not fun for my taste nowadays.

I’ve been using a similar set of weapons available in the Su-22 on the Su-39. Since I play alone, my goal is to complete the missions, and Ground Atak is by far my favorite.

My lack of trust in the Su-22 is due to not having a targeting pod at such higher BR. The Flight Awarnes in 11.3 + is much much higher than 10.7 or less, having to get so close to the targets dont look very profitable. But I have to admit that I’ve been flying the Su-22 in the DevServer in the last day there and I felt amazing.

Im not trained in the Su-22 family for Sim, but I think this will be school plane :D

Brilliant! haha

Definitely the reward is for quantity and not quality.

They aren’t the best rockets, but they’re more than adequate.
