Camo report is here: Community Bug Reporting System. I just submitted yesterday so mods likely have not gotten to it yet. Otherwise thanks for the information
I just revamped the original post, expanded to missing features across all tornados and additionally added some sources and pictures. Now just need to submit reports, if they have not already been filed.
@SoyBeanInhaler Do You have anything of this EGBU24 variant? With more than one picture we could make a report to change the one in game, which is a copy paste of the one on the GR4.
That is the EGBU-24B, its already on the A-200C, but right now EGBU-24B has the wrong model and is just the GBU-24 model. There is also a picture of it using 2 of them, and reports have been filed for the model and 2 EGBU.
Mk.13, 18 etc. should be fine as those were the ones continually used on Jag, Harrier etc. using international standard Bale lugs. So German+Italian planes would have been able to drop them in the configuration that Harrier and Jag carried them.
The main Tornado bombs adapted for MACE lugs were Mk.20s which had stress-reinforced casings.
Older Mks and American bombs could be fitted with MACE lugs for UK Tornado carriage, but the bomb cases wouldn’t be safe to re-fly in the event that the bombs were not dropped during the mission - which is why Mk.20s had to be made.
Saudi Tornados equipped MACE lugs along with American Mk.80-series bombs
Good to know. Have someone made a report for the skyshark?
Not that I know of
It could also be requested to change the name from Tornado 1995 to Tornado IDS ret.3.
if need here you are a photo of p.09 with the skyshark
Would be good. With Tornado IDS being the universal name for all 8 “Tornado IDS” aircraft in game currently. It can make conversation overly awkward when wanting to refer to both the Italian one specifically and them all generally within the same conversation.
ADV can recieve boz and ECM pods (at least british one, dont know about Italy, but since they are literally the exact same probably arguement can be made even if Italy didnt use it on theirs)
Found another picture
It’s not. Its a Towed Radar Decoy (TRD). It uses the same housing as a BOZ but isnt a BOZ. The other might be a Phimat pod, but isnt clear enough to tell
Eh, well at least its something for if they implement ECM
Yeah, though the foxhunter radar was apparently pretty good at EW iirc. So the F3/ADV should be fine on that front.
But I wonder if the Italian ADVs can get Phimat. Currently pushing for it on the F3 and especially F3 Late because 216 large chaff (or 432 with the Op Granby fit replacing the fuel tanks with the pods) would be a massive buff for it, espcially with the state of BOL
I really don’t see why they wouldn’t. The Italians didn’t use SuperTEMPs either (iirc) and received them in the game
Yeah, but also they weren’t going to give the RAF F3s the Stage2G radar because they didn’t have proof the Italian tornado ADVs got the upgrade and wanted to keep them the same. They only did because Flame found the proof. So there is a precedent for them denying an upgrade for the RAF one because the ADV might not have had it.
Im going to start putting in the new bug reports and also linking ones that already have been filed, might need some more sources but will update as I go
Where does the pod go with two of them? Or is the plan to drop them as dumb bombs with CCIP?
Yeah, you wouldnt be able to run a tpod.
IRL, that configuratioin was used on the Tornado Gr1 in OP Granby with Buc S2Bs buddy lasing. But that was with the GBU-24s and so no GPS.
Im not sure what the Italians used to do the same in that situation, maybe a tornado that buddy lased for entire flight? But GPS guidance does open up other options. Likewise I don’t know what the GR4 would do in that situation with the EGBU-24s
In game, some GPS guided weapons like the GBU-39 can be used without a tpod and rely upon CCRP to target a position. This would work with the EGBU-24s as well, but so far Gaijin forces a tpod for any bomb that has laser included, regardless of whether or not it has GPS as well.
What would probably be needed due to game limitations is a pure-GPS version of the bomb, but I dont think that would be all that big of an issue. Would be interesting to have on the Tornado A200C/Gr4 and Typhoons as well.
They for sure had a amx or fellow tornado laser, if not someone on the ground do the same. In Kosovo before amx had the cldp pod, a tornado would lase for them.
In game this would probably result in it just being a gps guided bomb. But with them testing infantry for April fools, maybe there is a chance in the future fellow squadron mates and team members on the ground could lase for you
It is possible, but for now Id look towards getting GPS only versions of the EGBU-24, I dont see buddy lasing coming soon
