The Tornado GR1 in-game has an extremely unusual nerf that makes absolutely no sense. It has notably weaker engines than the other 8 Tornado IDS aircraft for a reason that makes absolutely no sense.
The official reason that has been given is this:
So the intended reason for the GR1 to have the Mk101 engines, was to increase the differences between the GR1 and GR4, whilst simultaneously ignoring the large number of pre-existing differences. What is worse, is that this excuse hasn’t been used anywhere else, even with Tornados where it would actually make sense. Such as the Italian Tech Tree. The Tornado IDS and the Tornado IDS (1995) might as well be considered identical aircraft for ARB/ASB and yet are 0.3 BR different, at this time, I cannot think of a single reason why you would play the IDS (1995) over the IDS as a result. Changing the IDS to Mk101 engines might give a minor reason for this to change.

| Mk103 engines |
Only one of these has the MK103 engines as an upgrade, and its the one with the greatest number of differences…
It has even been acknowledged the engines are from a radically different time period. The GR1 by virtue of the TIALD integration is a late airframe addition, some time in the 1990s. So it creates an extremely weird amalgam aircraft
I have seen several comment that this change was to “balance” the Tornado GR1 vs the others, but this too makes no sense, because it doesn’t differ from them notably, the PGMs are not worth equipping in ARB/ASB due to their poor performance and extreme weight and I don’t consider them worth equipping in GRB but if they are truly that powerful, increase its BR, don’t nerf engine performance.
So this continued insistence on nerfing the British Tornado and ONLY the British Tornado needs to stop and the engine needs to be correct forthwidth, Especially given as we also still lack an appropriate “early” Tornado IDS to enjoy the far easier 11.3 BR, as Gaijin continues to correctly BR the Tornado GR1, ASSTA1 and IDS (1995). So the bare minimum they could do is ensure that one of the 3 Tornado IDSs erroneously placed at 11.7 is actually on-par with the others.
Would you like to see the Tornado GR1 finally get its corrected engines?
