my understanding is that even if the other modes come they’ll be added as separate missiles due to limitations with the game, guaranteeing that every Brimstone implementation will be ahistorical by that standard
edit:
Also the reason we keep bringing it up is because otherwise there is zero chance of something being done. If it gets added as it currently is then it will never get fixed
but every time it’s mentioned you get the same answer, it’s already confirmed several times that we won’t get mmW for the time being. The mass has been corrected and three other reports have been passed (though we’ll have to wait and see if those are corrected)
while that would be sad at the very least might mean it will gown down in BR by a lot, I still think if they want to keep it SAL that they should remove the TV/IR guided AGMs of the F15E and Su34 because clearly having FnF weapons is far to op for the UK
When the F-16C was added with Aim-9Ls and not Aim-9Ms. The Americans kicked up a storm and it got Aim-9Ms
When the F-4F ICE was added with Aim-9L and not Aim-9Li. The Germans kicked up a storm and got Aim-9Li.
Not perfect examples though, and history has told us that they dont care about Britain at all (look at the Challenger 2) but maybe if we kick up enouggh stick, maybe they’ll buff the GR4 a bit instead of sweeping it under the rug like they did with the FA2 and F3.
BOL
IR PGMs
Litening III
Consider Storm Shadow/ALARM (ASAP)
Finish the radar on the Tornado IDSs
(Even just dropping it down to 12.0 in air modes)
Small things that could be done instead to make the GR4 a more worthwhile addition that basically a Torando Gr1 with Aim-9Ms, HMS and MAWS at the moment
I personally see this issue less that the Brimstone is SAL only, but that during the Dev Stream and Devblog they state there is a severe lack of counters such as ECM or long-range AA systems. Basically, they are adding advanced weaponry that’s barely able to fit into the game without bringing in important counterplay mechanics.
I’d like to see all of these (maybe bar ALARM, depending on other nations getting ARMs) but people telling Smin that the Kh-38MT is op over and over won’t really help with these imo
True, though they state about Brimstones being too OP as they can outrange any SPAA at top tier. Well… So can AGM-65 and especially KH-38. So that reasoning should be removed from the reasoning because it just sounds a bit… Hypocritical.
the thing is I dont see why its a problem for the UK when we get something that SHOULD be strong but it gets pre nerfed into the ground without us even getting to see how strong it actually would be, but russia were gonna get a cruse missile that would completely ruin sim or Air RB and they get even more KH38MTs which only downside to the brimstone is that the brimstone could see through smoke, ignoring the fact the MT has a far larger payload, better IOG, and more then double the speed. I just dont understand how they can sit there and so adamantly say that it would be far to strong when it would be more of a side grade to the KH38MT
This basically covers why I keep kicking up a fuss. I’m just fed up with Britain getting unnecessary nerfs and never having anything fixed. Each time I come back to this game it gets harder and harder to stay because of stuff like this.
Also top tier GRB is already pretty unbearable, I doubt anything “OP” given to one of the least played nations would have any real impact on the game.
They need to stop racing to modern aircraft and focus on ECM mechanics and counters. Apaches fall behind since they can’t use 114L despite being a key weapon for them, Spikes are unreliable garbage because making them actually “smart” will cause them to be extremely effective. Most Western weapons have to be held back to fit the mold within War Thunder and to be fair some amount of Russian/Chinese weapons as well. I don’t want to be long-winded about this, but if Gaijin is admitting they are behind on counters, I feel it’s only appropriate they need to focus on such a problem.
There’s no answer to my question here. Here’s my question:
Please answer directly: is the Kh-38 currently a balanced weapon , and what is your stance on the idea of keeping only the laser-guided version in the game and removing the Fire-and-Forget version?
Does the LITENING III pod have better angles than the current pod?
I think of the most important things for Brimstones at the moment is trying to get the pod angles as best as they can be, as that is what limits their use a lot
Just like Mavericks, these weapons can be spoofed by smoke and bad weather (of which a radar missile ignores all of these problems). Yes, the Kh-38 is very long range, but it would be silly to ignore players that have been just as effective with Mavericks. Same with Helis with Spikes. If you’re reading this and think “Well, these are fairly unbalanced as well”, you now notice that it isn’t exclusive.
Same as mentioned earlier, it would make no difference if every match was clear day, but any radar ATGM would make it completely uncounterable in bad weather and can be spammed with impunity. Again, as I mentioned before, War Thunder lacks proper counters, causing these ridiculous limitations to keep happening.
if you know you’re in range then in theory you won’t have to do that initial pitch up (so long as the target point is already set), the missile will loft over the terrain itself so you’d only be visible for the terminal lasing
