Yep, I am and have been operating off the same assumption…thankfully that is usually enough in Sim for 1x kill as things tend to be easier targets. but I feel sorry for people trying to use this in GRB

Given the range they’ll need to be fired at. I just hope the litening II is replaced with litening iii ASAP to give us the accuracy at long range needed for manual guidance

It is FnF IRL no? Its name literally means Missile, Anti-radiation, Television.
The only point that matters from any of those is the line-of-site.
Most of the time the Su-25 spawns under the cloud layer. And if a Kh38 is coming your way you don’t even get any warning so why would you deploy smoke?

the signal is fed to the launch aircraft where the weapons officer guides it in.
Just because my TV is a “television” doesn’t mean it’ll track and home in on a tank if I throw it out of a plane.

Just making it slightly harder to spawn does not change the balance concerns and issues it brings. It just delays how quickly one joins the battle.

Then please explain why this didn’t stop the Kh 38 getting added when it presented significantly worse issues at the time it was introduced. Especially in the face of Su 34 coming, which will be bringing half a dozen of those missiles.

It should be obvious: KH-38 has the same limitations as AGM-65D/G.
20km target launch range, IR guided. “BUT 40KM lock onto ground range!” PGM-2000 says hi, with an even longer range. Of course there’s the bomb on F-111F that has IR guidance, at 11.7.
Brimstone is not an IR guided weapon.
Su-34 is going to have the worst flight performance of an afterburning aircraft, standard night vision integral targeting system, and a sidegrade of weaponry to Harrier GR7 and Su-25SM3, it can just drop GBUs as well.
So can we expect a reversion of the increased spawn points for vehicles like the P-47s and the F-16s since increasing their SP does not change their balance?
I thought the point of of increasing the SP cost was to reward skilled players with powerful (one might say, unbalanced) weapons…
