They need to stop racing to modern aircraft and focus on ECM mechanics and counters. Apaches fall behind since they can’t use 114L despite being a key weapon for them, Spikes are unreliable garbage because making them actually “smart” will cause them to be extremely effective. Most Western weapons have to be held back to fit the mold within War Thunder and to be fair some amount of Russian/Chinese weapons as well. I don’t want to be long-winded about this, but if Gaijin is admitting they are behind on counters, I feel it’s only appropriate they need to focus on such a problem.
There’s no answer to my question here. Here’s my question:
Please answer directly: is the Kh-38 currently a balanced weapon , and what is your stance on the idea of keeping only the laser-guided version in the game and removing the Fire-and-Forget version?
And this was ignored.
ah thats fair, but it is in the same vein as the other Kh-38MT comments wrt Brimstone
So, where is even one reasonable answer to the many questions about the Kh-38, and why are they being ignored? Any ideas?
Does the LITENING III pod have better angles than the current pod?
I think of the most important things for Brimstones at the moment is trying to get the pod angles as best as they can be, as that is what limits their use a lot
what aspect of this do you find unreasonable?
KH-38
- it needs line of sight to the target for each target
- manually queued for each target
- clear day as clouds block the seeker
- hope no one deploys smoke during flight
(I’d need to check the effective lock range of the 38MT but in general TV/IIR seekers don’t acquire vehicles at their stated lock range)
If you want an answer:
Just like Mavericks, these weapons can be spoofed by smoke and bad weather (of which a radar missile ignores all of these problems). Yes, the Kh-38 is very long range, but it would be silly to ignore players that have been just as effective with Mavericks. Same with Helis with Spikes. If you’re reading this and think “Well, these are fairly unbalanced as well”, you now notice that it isn’t exclusive.
Same as mentioned earlier, it would make no difference if every match was clear day, but any radar ATGM would make it completely uncounterable in bad weather and can be spammed with impunity. Again, as I mentioned before, War Thunder lacks proper counters, causing these ridiculous limitations to keep happening.
10/10 for tactics and weapon employment, I will be adding that feather to my cap.
if you know you’re in range then in theory you won’t have to do that initial pitch up (so long as the target point is already set), the missile will loft over the terrain itself so you’d only be visible for the terminal lasing
If only there was more of this chat on the day we got them haha.
I mean it is still slower to get the kill than other weapons and you have to hope the target doesn’t move too much, but I’m looking forward to seeing how you get on :P
me too, I’m primarily planning on using PW4 the same way I use JDAM for SEAD. Standoff range 20km, with the advantage of being able to correct for terminal with the laser (which is comically strong). The use my big stack of Brimies to clean up tanks.
Just hold the W key for 5-10 seconds
I’m looking forward to using it in SB against ground targets, I think it will be a fun time. But I hope gaijin considers lowering it’s BR to hopefully avoid the FOX 3 nightmare
The speed and range of this missile, for example. Do you seriously think that a Mach 2 missile, which can be launched from above one’s own airfield, is a balanced feature?
Okay, this looks fancy
gib update, me want GR4
Is there any reason we can’t take 12 Brimstones and just use the nose thermal/laser designator instead of the pod?
Sure it limits your firing angles but if I’m shooting stuff I front of me like AI, who cares?
5-10 seconds is how long it takes for the Pantsir to start moving.
141 didnt technically leave design phase. Where as the horten was a bomber design was it not?
Btw, now you can: they adding ammo crates for ground
