Gaijin has stated that there is no rule against adding chinese vehicles to the japanese tech tree.
The Oplot story is quite funny
In this regard, The opposition brought up a picture of a deteriorated T-84 Oplot tank that was emitting black smoke from its exhaust pipe to accompany the discussion. Ukraine only uses 10 of this model, while Thailand has purchased 49, which is not worth the price of a second-hand tank. However, the opposition also brought up pictures of old tanks purchased by the army with the faces of Prime Minister, Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister of Interior, and a new tank with his own face on it to accompany the discussion. He challenged the ministers to sit in the old tank (oplot) so that they could use the new tank to shoot, believing that the old tanks would not be in the condition of tanks.
Didnt they say not planned/ideas
meaning in future they could add it
Nice xDDD cool sounding tank and a funny backstory. a good combo
I don’t really want to keep this idea going, but have you seen Hungarian top tier vehicle(s)?
Anyway, a little bit of a shameless plug, if anyone wants to talk or discuss about Thai vehicles beyond T-84 Oplot and stuff, feel free to talk and discuss about them on this thread!
It’s a Thai vehicle,
In war thunder Thailand is a secondary nation in the Japanese tech tree.
Why wouldn’t they have the VT-4, OPLOT and the M48/M60 tanks?
They are tanks of the Royal Thai Army.
Gaijin included Thailand to the Japanese tech tree to broaden out their small lineup.
Smaller tech trees such as France, Italy, Sweden, China and Japan needed some extra vehicles, a simple solution is adding a secondary or tertiary nations.
I see this as quite a simple solution and opens the possibilities for more nations and hopefully more fleshed out tech trees and have the secondary nations their own individual tech tree folder within the primary tech tree.

I would have hated it if Japan/Thailand had got the VT-4 before China, now I’d be fine with it if they do or don’t get it, the VT4 isn’t the MBT of China/PLA.
If it leads to fixes for the VT4A1, even better.
Isn’t respecting history and reality the purpose of the WT? I can agree with what has been captured in history, but what has not happened in reality should not be added to the game
4 tanks sold to USA
I wonder if it will also appear in US Tree as squadron or prem since it was used as an opfor.
You really have to go through massive mental gymnastics huh?
- domestically developed
- received as aid
- captured
- legitimately purchased
wow, that massive loops we have to go through… oh wait a min, thats not the rules gaijin have to follow…isnt?
This is completely unlike arbitrarily adding a vehicle to the Japanese tree that has zero historical ties to Japan’s development – especially when the vehicle’s nation of origin already has its own dedicated tech tree .
ah so like, the entire thai air tree in japan because literally none of those thai aircraft has got anything to do with japan. Did you made noise about it when thai aircraft was added in? guess not
No…? T-72s being in the same lineup as Leo 1s and alikes, T-90s alongside Challengers, time-travelling IFVs built in 60s-70s fighting alongside and against WW2 tanks…
what has not happened in reality?
thai agreed to ally with japan when japan came knocking their doors back then
even today thais are on nice terms with japan
thais themselves got vt4
whats the issue?
just double standarts from some chinese players coming from their forum…
complaining about a chinese produced tank being added to a subtree in the japanese techtree.
ROC has multiple vehicles from other nations also japanese aircraft, which is in the Chinese techtree.
Main reason why they are mad is a political topic, which is invalid due to the last sentence, and the best way for their goal is making drama.
They think that the more drama they make here/ getting support from non chinese players the more likely it is the vt4 is not getting added to thailand.
In simple terms, having a VT-4 tank in the Japanese tech tree hurts their national pride.
or it is Japan receiving Thai vehicles in september (It’s basically the chinese equivelant of V-Day).
That’s probably why there is such a active response from the Chinese player base.
didnt they say they wont add it next update (september)?
Actually, I don’t understand why the appearance of a low-spec VT4 in the Japanese tech tree would cause such a stir among domestic players. But I think it’s not appropriate to add VT4 tanks (along with aircraft) to the Japanese tech tree on days like September 3rd or October 1st, which are celebration dates. Otherwise, it would really be provoking Chinese players.
Everyone has the right to express their thought, don’t use dehumanization words like flood as if Chinese players should not be here or don’t belong here
