Top tier maps need to be updated yesterday

Gaijin, I love your game. But if you don’t sort these maps out for MBT’s in the next update, I’ll be quitting the game again until you do, and I know a lot of other people in the community feel the same way.

You leaving or not won’t make much difference, but yes, you got a point, high tier maps are not really realistic (if the game itself was at least a quarter of that), a popular opinion.

Yeah I know, I’m just a drop in the ocean for Gaijin but I’m also a big spender, not that it matters, but the point I’m trying to make is if they don’t sort their stuff out, they’ll end up losing a lot of their long term players which will, in my opinion, severely limit the amount of new players joining and limit the new players that stay even more.

But I guess it doesn’t really matter, seems they’d rather make a one off $100 selling a top tier vehicle to a new player than the consistent stream of income from players like myself.

Top tier is designed for inexperienced players with premium vehicle accessibility the main focus.
maps are often small and linear with a singular cap point.

I tested this and played top tier 12.0 GRB and its all Ardenne, Sun city, Japan and American desert

Played WW2 BR 5.7 and its Sinai, it’s Fallaise its larger maps that require more knowledge and a higher skill level to use the vehicles.

Makes sense but it shouldn’t be that way. Top tier is supposed to be for skilled players. If you wanna buy into it, go ahead but be prepared to learn. Hate the linear stuff. There’s plenty of games for brain dead gameplay.

Tbh top tier map is a PofS
no tanks able to play in environment of CQC apart from Russian tanks and uparmored Leopard that can beat the S out of each other because they have armor to back it up. The other? not so lucky.

How so lol. You literally getting all the tech necessary to do everything for you. No need to calculate distance with lrf installed, no need to aim carefully with ultra penning rounds, no need to position carefully with superb mobility, no need to angle with all armor on the front and none anywhere else. No need to have a good eye with optics, thermals and lws.

Top tier is ultimate noob pool and will be even more as the time goes on.

Yes and no, tools like laser rangefinder and thermal imagers are a huge help for acquiring targets, in lower BR where you don’t find such technology like 7.3 and below you need to use your brain to do something, guessing the right range, finding target at longer distances and so on.

Thanks to the advertisement, and indirect medias claiming specific vehicles is good, the machinery of the future and more absurd things, people thinks: “I’ll buy it.” then proceed to buy the highest tier vehicle just to get stomped in the process and not helping the team.

Eventually those folks evolve and turns a Forum member and start creating topics in the wrong section complaining about something in the game, specially a vehicle issue, doesn’t report that with good sources but from some media and repeats. War Thunder newbie life cycle.

*I’ve forgot to mention, a suggestion actually, if you want to have modern machinery but at the same time playing in a high tier with decent teammates, I recommend 9.3 or maybe 9.7, it has good vehicles I must say, vehicles like the MBT-70, Leopard 1A5, T-64B and much more are good examples of vehicles you could play that are much better than facing the 11.3 range.

While I understand what you’re all saying, it’s not like the enemy doesn’t get the same tools. It’s like saying top tier Jets doesnt take skill because they have Radar and Missiles which couldn’t be further from the truth, but the skill lies in staying alive while actively contributing.
If you truly believe it doesn’t take skill you’ve either never played it or it’s just not your cup of tea, which is fine. But spotting and calculating range isn’t hard when the enemy has to do the same. Difference is if you miss your first shot in top tier, you’re dead. You can afford to miss a few times in lower tiers.

The entry point is so much more forgiving than coming into the game at lower BRs.
The more assistance the game gives you the less skill it takes.

Now air to air combat skill level scales quite well, using the RADAR and knowing what mode and when to use your missiles when to flare/chaff and when to go cold or re-engage takes some level of skill.
Ground combat is on such small maps it becomes a point and click adventure. Premium T-80s fight premium M1 and Leopards. just hold W and get the 2 kills then spawn your premium CAS aircraft get another 2 kills before dying then spawn your premium helicopter and get another 2-3 kills die and then leave the game.

It may be your favourite game mode and thats fine but dont pretent it takes more skill, you are playing a glorified wannabe FPS at top tier.

Sitting an a Ka-50 and pushing spacebar to delete tanks doesnt.
Using an ITO to clear the skies by pushing spacebar and guiding a missile doesnt.

Couldn’t disagree more tbh because for every benefit you have, the enemy also has. You can’t take your Abrams and drive it around like an RU-251 or you’ll end up back in the hangar pretty quickly.

And you’ve just contradicted yourself. While I mostly agree with you, the skill of the KA-50 comes from being effective while avoiding SPAA. The skill of SPAA is being effective against players that are good at countering SPAA.
Speaking from experience there’s not a lot any top tier SPAA can do against a SU-27 until I make a mistake. But I’ve also gotta work out how I’m gonna destroy the enemy air to keep my team safe while avoiding enemy SPAA.
Sure there is games where a team is lacking good SPAA players and Air is allowed to roam free and visa versa, but that’s a skill issue. No less than a whole team that rush’s a cap instead of spreading out.

I’m starting to think none of you actually play top tier.

Because the game have a progression line but also give the player the key to skip like 99% of it ?

All of these doesn’t have any value when it come to the talk about map, because bad map also apply to low BR as well, you are going more into the problem of CAS, SPAA,heli,… otehr stuff

He just going off topic , should have pointed out earlier

Exactly, with the current map meta i don’t even know why Britain is in the game. Not only is their Aircraft tree lacking, but the Challengers are too bulky and slow to play the CQC maps that make up the majority of matchmaking.

The Su-27 and Ka-50 dont face the best SAM in the game.

Ka-50 with a helicopter loaded with Vikhrs for a single CAP point and an assist
You seem to play Russia, as a British player there is plenty we cant do with a Pantsir up as it has nealy double the range of the ADATS.

Top tier recently looks like this against Rusfed.
Su-34 spawn with 6 Kh-38 acheive 3 - 4 kills die
Spawn Su-25 with 4 Kh-38/Kh-29 acheive 2-3 kills die
Spawn Ka-52 Acheive 3+ kills die. game is over Russia win.

Yep it’s idiotic to ruin the top level of your game and fill it with premium tanks and aircraft.

Sure but that not the topic of this thread even if the problem of premium player not existing. Bad map are still bad map

There are good maps we just dont see them and they keep being reworked to satisfy the lower overall game skill and knowledge of new players jumping into top tier games.

Top tier is the vehicle to drive premium sales and sadly the game and map design suffers as a consequence of this.
