Tips on improving in High-Mid Tier (GRB 8.0 Germany)

Hi everyone,

I’m currently playing Germany at 8.0 Ground RB and I’ve hit a massive wall. I honestly feel completely outclassed in almost every match and it’s becoming incredibly frustrating.

The Main Issues:

  • Lack of Armor: I feel like my crews are protected by a sheet of paper. I’m getting penetrated by practically every autocannon in the game from any angle.
  • Technological Gap: I’m constantly facing stabilized tanks slinging APFSDS with adequate armor, while I’m struggling to get my gun on target or survive a single hit.
  • Specific Enemies: I am suffering heavily against Russian and Chinese tanks that seem to just point-and-click delete me. I also struggle against British MBTs (Chieftain Mk 3 & Mk 5) and high-rate-of-fire SPAAs like the ZA-35 and XM247, which shred me instantly.

My Lineup:

  • Leopard 1: My main MBT. I love the mobility, but the lack of a stabilizer at this BR is painful.
  • Marder 1A3: Good utility, but again, very fragile.
  • PzH 2000: Surprisingly, this is my best performer. I get most of my kills here simply because it feels easier to use than the MBTs right now.
  • M48: My backup, but I rarely have success with it in uptiers.

My Performance: I’m averaging maybe 2 kills before getting knocked out and usually forced to leave the match early. I can’t seem to sustain a lineup or hold a position without getting one-shot.

Questions:

  1. How should I be adjusting my playstyle for 8.0 Germany given the lack of stabilizers? Should I be playing even more passively?
  2. Are there specific spots or map tactics I should abuse with the Leopard 1 to minimize exposure to stabilized enemies?
  3. Is there a better lineup configuration I should aim for, or specific modifications I should rush to make this bearable?
  4. How do you deal with the Chieftains and Soviet heavy armor when you can’t tank a hit back?

Any tips would be appreciated. I want to push through to top tier, but this BR bracket is miserable right now.

Note: I did use ai to write this just because I was having trouble as English is not my first language.

if you wrote it yourself and then just used AI to translate it, which seems to be the case, theres absolutely no issue with that. people meme on AI posts only when the author is lazy and just copypastes whatever AI will give him.

First for questions:

Pretty much. Pushing stabilized tank with unstabilised one will get you killed 9 out of 10 times. issue is that between 8.0 and 9.3 lot of tanks get stabilisers so playing unstabilised ones is…suboptimal.

Dont spawn Leopard 1 on maps such as advance to rhine. If you have to, camp.

Other than that, flank and i mean flank and play as hulldown sniper, relocating after few shots.

modifications, none beyond HEAT-FS on Leopard 1 and knowing how to use it.

as for lineup:

yeah no kidding.

consider getting DF 105 or BMP-1, both have autoloader + HEAT combo, BMP adds ATGMs to the mix.

Maybe even consider raketenautomat.

or just shill few bucks for TURM III which is the better Leopard 1, with stab and coax 30mm lol.

Either have HEAT loaded, or aim as Leo 1 is capable of dealing with both frontally; aiming is the better skill to learn as that will translate further into the game.

now, for the main issues:

Higher you go, less you have to rely on your armor. In a sense, Leopard 1s are blessing in disguise because sooner you accept that fact and adjust your playstyle to Leopard 1s, better you will do in higher BRs.

Issue of uptiers isnt unique to any vehicle in game; however I will say that BR 8.0-9-0 where lot of vehicles dont have stabs is particulary nasty one.

Anything larger than autocannon will point-n-click delete Leopard 1.

Good turret armor against kinetic and relatively good UFP against kinetic - poor LFP, bad mobility and slow reload. Dont engage them in hulldown with kinetic shells.

again thats just part of the experience. Leo 1s are extremely poorly armored for MBT but thats due to IRL doctorinal stuff so nothing much you can do. As said previously, sooner you unlearn to rely on your armor, the better.

Lineup:

ye, Leo 1 is all about gun and mobility. Dont get hit.

You should position yourself on flanks with this one. Autocannon cant get through sides of soviet MBTs but will shred any light tank in seconds; for anything heavier, there are Milans.

Also abuse gun depression and fact your crew sits below the turret.

ah yes, the kanzerwagon.

it has LRF and potentionally one hit kill round. Just aim for coupolas and weak armor generally, and snipe with it.

you should leave this one at 7.7. Pattons are good, but require some finese as for the ammo usage.

Thank you so much for your advice!
First game in I got sands of Sinai, got 5 kills plus 2 assists. The most I’ve gotten in a while.
