They have terrible speed and acceleration, like slugs. All they need is a little more engine power.
Their engines got nerfed in a recent patch to match historical standards.
So, no. They sadly will not be getting more engine power.
Did some tests again after the changes:
Pretty diabolical how awful their mobility is.
When an IS-2 Mod. '44 and American T34 have twice superior acceleration, you know you’re in trouble.
They’ve massacred my boy…
I guess I’ll be playing the Sla.16 more often.
Their engines are correct.
They are heavy tanks, they aren’t supposed to be as fast as medium tanks.
@Necrons31467
The mobility of IS-2 is why it’s 6.7 with that garbage reload.
a historical nerf to vehicles that were dominating their BR bracket, I dont see how anyone can disagree with this
Even this isn’t doing too well. It has slightly worse engine power than the pre nerf II H, while also losing a ton of top speed and acceleration.
I think these nerfs should shut down any convo about them going to 7.0 without decompression.
There’s light tanks, medium tanks, heavy tanks and then quite a few levels below that there’s the Jagdtiger, Tiger II H and Tiger II P.
They were already quite slow even for heavy tanks prior to the change and didn’t come anywhere near having medium tank mobility, so I’m not sure what your comment even implies there.
It’s a shame, they were slow before, but now they’re almost unplayable. When you make a move, they lose their speed and remain stuck.
It’s still closer to how it was…
True.
Won’t stop US main cope though.
tell me what were the main reasons for why the tiger 2 didnt win germany the second world war.
Too heavy, too slow, not a sherman.
The reason why they are a lot slower now than they were before in WT is because gaijin used the horsepower stats for the ungoverned Maybach HL230 engine which could output 700HP. the Tiger E and all tiger 2s were fitted with a HL230 with a power governor limiting it to 600HP to make these notoriously unreliable engines last a bit longer.
Tiger E is still incorrectly using a 700hp engine, it should be reduced to 600hp for historical correctness
Blatantly wrong, they were almost light tank fast before, now they are only a bit slower than a Centurion over most terrain but handle turning like the 70-ton lump they really are. still more than mobile enough to be offensive, if anything it can be seen as a buff to the average brainless german main as their gun will be more stable from going slower
their gun is still brillant, equal to the american heavies in firepower but with double the fire rate and equally good armour protection.
So, since Germany lost the war, make sure that players lose battles here too. It seems logical . Then, when I stop playing Germany and War Thunder, there will be a reason. Keep weakening Germany… and leave Russian and American tanks fast and impenetrable.

Heavy tanks universally over-performed in acceleration before TIger 2’s changes, now they may still over-perform or they may be accurate.
It’s one step closer to more accurate mobility in tanks.
I wonder if the maus used a 600hp engine as well…🤔
Im all for as many accuracy nerfs and buffs to all else too, im not being a hater. a lot of german tanks are from when ground battles launched so are very inaccurate at times. a lot of us are trying to fix that with reports now.
Maus used the Daimler-Benz MB 517, not a maybach HL230 so it wont see these changes
Are you truly saying that the pre-nerf Tiger II’s came close to having light tank mobility?
If so, there’s got to be some kind of disconnection from reality at play here.
‘‘A bit’’ ?
The Centurion has 2.5x faster acceleration, that’s like saying a IS-3 is ‘‘only a bit slower’’ than a Leopard 1 MBT.
Oh well, the price of having a 70t heavy tank over having a 46t heavy tank.
