I can’t stay silent as I watch recent updates systematically turn the “Tiger II”—one of the most iconic and beloved tanks in the game—into a slow, unwieldy hunk of metal that will soon be able to compete in speed only with the American turtle, the T95. 🐢 And this isn’t just the whining of a “sore loser.” This is a critique based on facts and common sense.
The Absurd Engine Nerf
The main complaint is the absolutely absurd engine nerf. Citing “historical accuracy,” the developers cut the engine power and, more importantly, introduced some kind of “rev limiter.” This mythical limiter, it seems, exists only in their imagination.
Look at the facts:
- Historical Documentation: In no serious source dedicated to the “King Tiger” is there any mention that its Maybach HL 230 P45 engine had a built-in rev limiter that would forcibly reduce its power. Yes, crews were advised not to “redline” the engine to avoid premature wear, but this was merely a recommendation, not a physical limitation. A crew could always push the engine to its maximum to quickly get into position or escape from fire.
- Comparison with Other Nations: Against this backdrop, the actions of Gaijin seem particularly outrageous, as they appear to be guided by double standards. Why should German vehicles, for which they constantly search for “limiters” and “flaws,” suffer, while other nations get “overpowered” characteristics? The T95, for example, although slow, has a good hull traverse speed, allowing it to quickly angle its front armor towards the enemy. Our “Tiger,” after this nerf, is just an easy target.
- Game Balance: A game is not just a historical encyclopedia; it’s also a competitive environment. When the “Tiger II,” which essentially has only strong frontal armor and a powerful gun, is stripped of its mobility, it becomes an easy target. It can be easily flanked and attacked from the sides or rear, where it is completely defenseless.
From “King Tiger” to T95: A Slow Agony
If this continues, the “King Tiger” might as well be renamed the “King Turtle.” We are already seeing how the tank is losing its maneuverability and speed, transforming from a formidable predator into a clumsy behemoth.
Developers, you are turning one of the most symbolic tanks of World War II into an unplayable joke. If you want to make the game more realistic, then be consistent! Remove the “arcade” speeds from other tanks, stop introducing mythical “limiters,” and don’t turn a legendary tank into a helpless T95.
Give the “Tiger II” a chance to be what it was again: a formidable force on the battlefield, not a slow target for everyone.
