Thoughts on artillery getting a fcs or Ballistics computer?

Basically, basing this off arma 3, What would your thoughts be on WT getting a Fire control system for artillery vehicles. Would you make any adjustments to it? Would WW2 Artillery have a different fcs all together? Would there be any changes to br because of this? Would you create dead zones that the fcs system simple wont target? (Like spawns)

(And before someone says it’d be useless, We all know it’ll be useless on small maps where direct fire would be better for 20 feet ifront of you, But for the larger maps. You’d actually have a chance to use it effectively!)

last time this was brought up, minimal range for indirect fire was calculated at like 6km. Meaning even Sinai or Maginot would be too small.

anyway no, we dont need more ways for people too afraid to play tanks to get SP safely and with little to no counterplay just to hop into CAS.

I liked how mwt tank battles did artillery. And I wouldnt be against it, it makes moe sense than infantry does.

Arma 3 is a different beast. You’re fighting a (small; scaled down) country sized battle in giant maps like Chernarus. The minimum range won’t allow it to be useful, and in Arma 3 you’re using artillery mostly against infantry, and that pre ACE tanks in Arma 3 use a HP model whereas WT uses “either penetrate and damage, or do nothing at all”

If you look at the maximum angle that self propelled artillery in the game has and the minimum speed at which they can shoot their shells it would still miss the largest map in war thunder by about a kilometer (if i remember my old calculations correctly).

Not only that but if you manage to stand on a hill to get better gun elevation it would then take that round WAY to long to land. I don’t remember the numbers but we are talking over a minute of flight time and there are not many situations where the enemy sits still in one spot for that long so by the time you shot gets there the enemy will be gone or already shot by someone else.

Honestly speaking it would be really cool. But as pointed out map size will hamper us. If you think of map sizes in arma where the smalles maps are 4x4km square and the fact that arma 3 has the largest open world maps with no zone loading in gaming history it will be a touch one to implement.

That said - I am all for bigger maps and battles for ground. GRB and SRB I feel should not be pushed into the same small map, arcade style play as arcade battles. I have no gripe with being able to use my modern vehicles to it’s full extent and intended use where 500m is point blank. It will also mean that air spawns matter more, SPAA can be buffed to its actual values and it gives you reason to fight for air dominance as well as ground dominance. It also means that vehicles will not require these weird nerfs and buffs as we can then play them according to their design doctrine.

Maybe, just maybe the answer is give arty FCS to fix everything else XD
