This game has a huge issue

To my dear moderators, put that in what ever section you want, the title is self explanatory. This forum is a mess.

A game where you spend more time in the garage and in queue then actually playing is not worth a single penny… This game is a total waste of time.

There’s good news for you!

Nobody is forcing you to play a game you don’t enjoy playing, and you also don’t have to spend a single penny on it if you don’t want to!

You miss the core issue here. It’s not about me.

easy, take time to learn the game, and take your time to grind. That simple.

The biggest factors that effect queue times are BR, Game mode and time of day.
I mostly play Realistic, both air and ground at different BR’s but mostly high-mid to top BR.
I usually play early morning or evening UTC.
I have an average queue time of about 15 seconds and an average play time in air of 6-7 minutes and ground of like 10-12 minutes.

So i’m curious of what game-modes and BR you play and what vehicles :)

Trying to learn the rope in arcade and assault mode. Im currently at BR 3.7 and less. The issue is not as much as the queue time more than the speed at which i get killed especially while flying bombers. They have no maneuverability and therefore rely on their gunners which rely on crew skills which are very low. The time i spend in battle is shorter than my global down time.

Yeah, both those modes are a bit slower to get into (assault mode in particular as players only play one to get the reward and then not again for the rest of the day so way less players queue up for that mode) and at that BR its going to be a bit slower as well.

Bombers are VERY vulnerable in general and tend to need either escorts or a very patient player that takes an extra lap to get altitude to make it way harder for fighters to climb up there and shoot them down.

Gunners can be controlled by the player if the need arises. If you haven’t already i suggest looking into the key binds in general, lots of settings in there that many new players don’t even know you can do :)

“Rookie”?

Either you’re a young kid who doesn’t understand the game yet, or something else.

Your also playing on a PS, so, you know, consoles aren’t great for the game, unless you use KB&M.

Not more, not less.

If you ask for specific recommendations:

Name your game mode, flown aircraft and your overall goal for playing wt.

This is probably your issue. Assault mode has been… abandoned, both ground and air. People do it once per day for the booster drop if that.

I don’t recommend playing assault. It won’t teach you anything applicable to either ground or air combat.

Stick to PvP modes - whether arcade or realistic - it will be far faster queue times.
Arcade I dunno what advice to give beyond “Play every major WW2 player who manufactured their own equipment for a week each” as a universal advice to familiarize yourself with your enemies.

Also open server search to include EU, CIS and NA. Depending on where you live, you might get sth like 60-80 ping EU, 100-120 CIS and 180 NA. In that case drop NA and do CIS/EU.

If you DO want to practice vs bots…

Go to “Custom Battles” in the top left corner of your screen, input some random password, pick your map, difficulty and set up the nations you want as allies and enemies and the BR range you want to fly at then send it. I use custom battles ubiqutiously to try and improve my accuracy with full-real controls in cockpit, it’s quite handy - just beware tail gunners.

Wt have a lot of issues this is not one of them

Work on those pilot skills a bit, then fly like your mouse is being batted by a kitten… Don’t fly straight in the slightest, and aim past that movement you are making to keep your eye on the target but still not be predictable.

Vitality itself is really important, it will make you last longer.

It should be for Gaijin. As a new player, im already getting fead up and on the verge of just stoping playing the game. Honestly this is just stupid. I barely have time to get in a fight and im dead. Then back again in the garage. How can you work any skill like this. You can’t engage without having 2-3 bandits on your tail. Even worse, mixing platform + seal clobbers. I will definitely not spend on this product and as said, this is a problem for Gaijin. I will just spend else were.

Anyway have fun for me.

You’re fresh, trust me, stick with it… Don’t fly straight or predictable. Absolutely keep it fluid.

Be sure to bump up some vitality on your pilots and keep saving your lions, you’ll need them in abundance rather than drip-feeding.

Ik u saying this to gaijin but its not a problem im sry its a skill issue
If u playing air i reccomend playing arcade at the start then u have 3 life so u wont need to get back to the hangar and u can learn the game
Same for ground but in ground u can jump to realistic quicker cuz its easier lo learn and also the system works on sp so u have 2 life at min or more depends on ur performance and ur vehicle count

Ill say it again, you know nothing so you can’t help me. Its not my loss is Gaijin’s

Have you made an effort to watch tutorials?

It is definitely gaijin’s fault that they provide a terrible on-boarding experience, but youtube is full of both RB and I even saw some AB content creators who can tell you about common mistakes and how to work around them.

You have also not described what your issues are and people are thus unable to assist. All we know is:

  1. You played “Assault” modes - and the only advice is: don’t. They’re abandoned, they’re bugged and they don’t teach anything. You only do them to get around terrible stockgrinds and to get boosters - neither that is very relevant for now.
  2. You fly bombers and have been relying on the A.I gunners to defend you - advice was given there (switch to gunner view and take them helm yourself and use WASDQE to maneuver your plane while doing this).

You havn’t described your goals either. Goals/intent/purpose. What draws you to Warthunder in the first place? What did you want to achieve, do?

Here’s Defyn’s air RB tutorial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QLwcSHURTt8&list=PLzgMCl5_MsA1mJ5DxJTdPNePSZCjW5gRv

His plane specific guides won’t apply as planes behave differently, but air combat fundamentals should work everywhere, even if the exact execution may differ (arcade planes generate energy way faster due to boost).
