They have shut down chat?

I live in America, I can definitely say that you can say whatever the hell you want unless it’s a threat or you say that your going to do something illegal, and still then, most of the time nothing will happen but a slap on the wrist, to be blatant, they just don’t give a shit.

Gaijin is a Hungarian company and the first amendment applies to the government, not private companies.

Gosh dangit! You got chat taken away for all of us by calling him mean things! All your fault 😭

Free speech is not the free ability to slander and degrade those who have died in terrorist attacks or similar.

Seeing as you think the comments leading to the chat removal are “free speech”… I’d assume you were one of the people spreading them.

I’m pretty sure lots of messages they used are translated or brisked over… During the “severe damage” update there were a few grammatical errors in the original messages that were refined.

“Gaijin” means one of the following legal entities (depending on the circumstances described below):

● When Services are provided directly to the User - Gaijin Network Ltd, with its registered address at Ifigeneias street 63, Office 302, 2003 Strovolos, Nicosia, Cyprus;

● When Services are offered via third-party platforms (e.g., Steam, PlayStation Network, Xbox Live, GOG, Google Play Store, Apple App Store) - Gaijin Distribution Kft., with its registered address at Hungária körút 162-166, 1146 Budapest, Hungary.

Since this forum isn’t a third-party platform… you’re a Cypriot company here :)

Ok fair.

First amendment still doesn’t apply in Cyprus tho.

then that’s not free speech.
Besides Gaijin is literally generating attention by limiting chat for no f reason. This is a videogame.

Yes, it’s the 19th amendment in Cyprus:

Article 19 1. Every person has the right to freedom of speech and expression in any form. 2. This right includes freedom to hold opinions and receive and impart information and ideas without interference by any public authority and regardless of frontiers.

The point you’re trying to make I think is that the 1st Amendment (or its “free speech” equivalent every other normal country says it has) doesn’t apply to private companies, just governments. That’s pretty much true everywhere.

Radio commands exist for people who don’t want to use VOIP. If Gaijin updated their ping system to include more options text chat would be even more useless than it is right now.

Chat is completely useless you have discord or Xbox / PlayStation game chat

Third party programs such as Discord is there for the people who want voice chat.

I mean, I get not being about civilians being murdered. But why not ban the people doing it instead of taking it away from everyone?

Snail is a private company what are you talking about free speech?

Because most likely, a certain Slavic government is directing this.

As always, not bringing in politics seems too difficult for some people. You guys doing this do realize you’re only proving the devs right, right?

I’m sure if snail check you’re chat history in game they’ll have rights to ban you . Pretty sure you talk about politics in game ( Which is against TOS) I’m pretty sure you participated In the N word meme ( When you all give individual letters in Chat spelling it out ) etc

Oh yes you guys who are tough behind the keyboard, you’ll be so bold to say anything behind a keyboard but when it’s time for voice chat you guys hide

It’s not “politics” to ask honest questions about why part of the service people are paying for is turned off without any notice.

In the absence of any Gaijin official statement explaining what’s going on and why, paying customers of the company are entitled to complain here.
