There is honestly no purpose for ULQ anymore

ULQ already makes it worse to look thru forest nd bushes than medium or high settings lol. ULQ isnt advantage but disadvantage nowadays.

Thats not high settings lmao, when my foliage looks like this. With tree range in like 1/4 of the slider.

This is the settings i use

Literally, they want to remove the ulq but when you start speaking about limiting fps, they start crying.

No sadly these types exist in every game name one game that doesn’t have any form of sweaty known exploit that people defend as a good thing ?
Look I don’t really care how people decide to play their game or what measures eventually get introduced to limit it but defending a setting which is a low key exploit which has remained unchanged since the ground game started is counterproductive denying an exploit is essentially the same as admitting to cheating, this thread will eventually go the same way as every other ulq post before it…… eventually devolving into a low key deflective 💩post

Typical behavior from forum posters, it’s like they feed on double standards.

True, people will defend triple digit FPS and refresh rates with their lives.
They don’t want their exploit gone.

So this game has many cheaters defending exploits on both ends of the spectrum ?

how about no?
I have a dedicated gpu, and even with ulq i have only arrround 90fps.
This is good yes, but if i play higher I get an fps count that makes it not competitive for me to play tournaments or sqb anymore

“B-b-b-but 90 FPS is more than enough, you should be happy with 40-60 FPS” - dude that plays on locked 240 FPS with his 240Hz monitor

Disposable incomes are great

Depends, if you have too much you’ll end up using your top tier system as an exploit.

Pretty hard to accomplish when OP began with the bitter criticism on other’s peoples lives at the last paragraph of the post.

If anything, this thread should be locked. It’s been clear the topic, albeit having an interesting technical approach, it hasn’t been addressed the best way and only went to the economic and personal.

Well why would you use ulq if apparently having better graphics is the exploit surely people should be striving to improve their setups to obtain those better graphics

I don’t understand why people keep saying higher settings give an advantage on par with ULQ.

Note the settings that when at high/max settings are worse for competitive play.

  • Shadow quality (more and darker shadows)
  • Effects quality (more effects)
  • Reflection quality (minor change but it is very slight)
  • SSAO (less ambient occlusion makes stuff brighter)
  • Global illumination (on lower settings areas are brighter than on max)
  • Terrain displacement (can slightly increase the height of the displacement on max setting)
  • Grass range (no explanation needed)

Those are the main ones, the most blatant example of higher being better has to be Tracks and Water quality, tracks for more distinct tracks and water with high or very high lets you notice underwater obstructions faster.

Sure a higher framerate and resolution is better, but ULQ removes a LAYER OF THE TERRAIN and reduces shadows, and sometimes doesn’t render objects that are used as cover/concealment.

ULQ looks like a different game to WT even on low settings

I agree the last statement was not the most ideal, however it is a factor, games are a business and companies do cut off lower segments of markets. There is a reason Nvidia didn’t make a 4050 for desktop, the 3050 was already selling well and the more to update silicon could be used for more expensive GPUs. There is a reason CSGO was updated into CS2 instead of being a new game, they wanted people to keep their skins and for the game to look better, this also ended up cutting off a segment of the market, that had PCs that could no longer run the game or now run it at near unplayable framerates.

Having very low minimum requirements will always bring with it a slight aspect of peoples economic and personal situation, since it creates a wider playerbase and thus people that don’t have the resources to upgrade to a better system will rightfully use the system they have until it is beyond out of date. There are people that still use the PS3 as their main console, sure it is dated and the last major release was a game in 2018, it was a 12 year old system when that game came out, now it is 19 years old, the PS4 generation is now 12 years old and Sony is not gonna focus on it anymore starting with next year, despite it having a very large active user base. There comes a point where something is either outdated enough or lacks power to be worthwhile to develop for. DDR4 is 2 years younger than WT and the standard 2133MT/s is the same bandwidth as the best DDR3, which is also 2133MT/s.

I never said anything about better graphics settings.
I talked about triple digit FPS and refresh rates.

Those two are clear exploits that come with high tier systems.

People are striving to access those exploits, having 120Hz+ monitors is really common nowadays.

God forbid people want their games to look better than a flight sim from the 90’s 😱shame on them

Yes, shame on them for using that exploit to gain an advantage.
Game will look the same on 60 FPS as on 200 FPS, so they simply don’t need those.

Totally pay to win

I doubt visual fidelity was ever WT’s selling point and those reworked maps look more than decent anyways. Further development of their game engine to make better graphics is probably very low on their to-do list, for this decade at least.

Keeping as much players as you can is the goal of F2P games, as more people = more potential customers.

That’s because PS5 is a thing for a while now, I don’t see WT2 anywhere around me.

You want ULQ removed but don’t want FPS being capped so people don’t gain an unfair advantage using that. Interesting.

What?
As if ULQ is something that affects Gaijin’s income? If anything it is beneficial to keep ULQ, as the person in the future might upgrade PCs or buy premiums. Nevermind the fact that they contribute to the player count, and therefore keep War Thunder alive anyways.

Or even the fact that when I’m away from home, I use my laptop which runs ULQ quite stable. Any higher and I get inconsistency. I buy premiums, I don’t see the need for a newer laptop when 11 months out of the year I’m playing on my Desktop.
