Really depends on what games you’re going to play and how long do you plan to keep your GPU.
We already have more than a few titles that even at 1080p eat up all 8gb of VRAM, so someone getting a GPU like that nowadays must think twice about it.
That’s even worse cause then high-end PC players can just use a virtual machine to cheat an advantage over others. Best solution imo is let anyone use ULQ, and just laugh at those who choose not to use it, and still complain it’s unfair.
You have noticed how RAM prices are skyrocketing right now, and how certain component parts are hard/impossible to get your hands on? Not to mention that upgrading a PC you already have, especially if it was a pre-build, is something a lot of players may not have the knowhow or confidence to do. Not to mention that there’s inevitably a lot of younger players who cannot routinely afford to buy a system (or whose parents might not wish to for their own reasons) but might have the money to afford premium content?
Slamming the door on a portion of the playerbase because “their performance isn’t good enough” is daft. I have two systems, a laptop and a PC. My Laptop can run ULQ and realistically that is it with a usable FPS, but my PC is running a 5070Ti which runs max settings with 180 fps. I play on my laptop because my work requires I am away from home a lot and I do not have the ability to move my PC, nor spend enough time away to make it worth moving my PC to my “at-work residence”.
Nevermind the other regions of the world where buying a mid/high-end PC is very much out of the question and reach of many.
I mean, don’t get me wrong, it is noticeably easier to see stuff in ULQ, but the flipside is my ULQ only system framerate will spontaneously implode when some in game events occur.
But it’s not as if people with a NASA Supercomputer are barred from using ULQ if they really want (why? The game looks gorgeous on max, if you can run it)
Nvidea GeForce GT 1030
Now thats old.
o7.
He’s ignoring the fact not all people will spend their money in a perfectly rational way.
Someone playing on a laptop can’t upgrade that easily and even desktop users are often forced to completely change the platform, just to gain some noticeable upgrades. This can be very costly, especially if RAM is involved and many just don’t have enough money to spend at that time.
Buying a couple of premiums on sale is much cheaper and thus more obtainable for them.
At Brasil i can buy a CAR just using RAMs (depending in the RAM ofc) with 2x16 RAM DDR5 i can get a car
ULQ is basically cheating lol Its always obvious when it happens
Computer upgrades cost like 2x the amount they used to.
My set up almost doubled in price from when I bought it 7 months ago due to ssd, gpu and ram price increases
If you can buy a better PC for those who can’t afford a great computer to run on better quality, then we can remove it.
It’s crazy how SSDs returned to their old price back in the day (~2017 or something) where that technology was still pretty new.
So you said “€100 is easy if you look hard enough” really misses the reality for many people. Across much of Latin America, Africa, Eastern Europe, and most of Asia, that sum is often a full week’s earnings or more after taxes, not to mention the goddamn high shipping costs and local market prices that drive everything up. Just because hardware is old and cheap where you live doesn’t mean it’s affordable everywhere. That GTX 600 might be some very new and high-end tech for undeveloped countries and probably might even cost 200 euro for taxes and shipping costs.
You keep bringing up your own upgrade history, from a GT630M laptop until 2020, then gradually transitioning to a desktop, and only reaching Ryzen + 4070S in 2023-2024 – so why lecture everyone else to “just upgrade now” when you spent years happily playing on low-end hardware yourself? “Because I got good laptop and everything upgraded so nobody is allowed to use ULQ anymore.”
You do realise that that premium content costs differently across the world, especially in undeveloped nations. Let’s say a premium account costs 60 euro in Europe but probably costs 5 euro in Africa. However, buying those computer components and upgrading somehow in this world doesn’t work like that. Instead of being cheaper, it gets more expensive. Like, an Apple Mac M1 Pro costs like $1000 in North america, and in Asia it cost around 1200.
The only use for ULQ is for people to easier see enemies at this point.
I have to use ULQ anytime I wanna play away from home on my laptop or I get like 20fps.
If I use ULQ I get around 50-60fps which is fine to play at since this game is not as fast paced as something like CSGO
That’s like saying shooting your cannon is basically cheating. Anyone can do it.
I alos like to lie online lol Console players cant and if i have to play WT in 4k so does everyone else plus all the trees and clouds 😅
Then advocate for a ULQ option for console players.
Do they reallym
Nah I’d much rather it not exist period.
