The T-55-am1 is trash

T-62M1 literally has the same flat pen as T-55AM1, at 60 degrees.

Since when was 229 the same as 129

It is there.

The leopard a1a1 should be 8.7 because it is simply bad for an 8.7…

Did you read?
“Same flat pen as T-55AM1 at 60 degrees”

No.

the flat pen of the 3bm28 is 398 while the pen of the 3bm25 is 129 at 60° which it is 260mm LOS, you’re making no sense at all.

Not really. Russia has a solid 9.0 lineup so i dont really get the point of his original comment to me. Isreal doesn’t have a 9.0 lineup. Italy doesn’t have a 9.0 lineup.

Again its a problem all nations have. Not every nation will have a lineup for every BR possible

my bad

and it’s arguably better than the 55AM-1 with more mobility and better APFSDS, and it would dunk on every other 8.7

Zero point in being petty.

Russia’s 9.0 lineup is rather deserted. If you have the 279 its nice, otherwise its not great. The only good tank you have is the T-62M1.

The apfsds is dogwater compared to other 9.0s, it just lucky enough that half the things it face are squishy enough to get easily pen by 3bm25.

Meanwhile other 9.0s
Leopard A1A1 | DM23
ZTZ88A | DM23
ZTZ88B | DM23
M60TTS | M774
CN M60TTS | DM33
Chieftain MK10 | L23
Chieftain 900 | L23
T-62M1 | 3BM28

Only redeeming quality is it could shoot ATGMs on the move and also intercept missiles, its inferior pretty much everywhere compare to the ZTZ88s, and breakfast for the hull down Chieftain MK10 lol

Imo if anything it’s better to make some decompression here than moving T-55AM-1 lower, it’s a very hard enemy for tanks with just HEAT/APDS shells and without stabilizer.

I remember the days when the AM-1 was a complete menace. Really, it just came down to it’s very effective armor profile, and not enough drawbacks to balance it out. The moblity isn’t incredible, but it isn’t bad. The APFSDS is the worst dart in game, but it’s still workable if you know where to aim. You get an LRF, something not all 8.7s get.

The you come to the armor, which was very reliable in a downtier. The composite blocks on the UFP and the turret would block all HEATFS shells and the overwhelming majority of APDS across most of the frontal arc. You either needed APFSDS, or you’d be forced to aim for the fairly small manlet or the LFP whern visible. The various unstabilized 7.7/8.0 MBTs have a hard enough time in an uptier as it is, back then they’d be facing a vehicle that can not only lolpen them on the move, but would resist all but carefully aimed shots in return.

For context, it was at the same BR as the Chieftains, who are substantially slower, with weaker armor, and no LRF. Similar story with the RISE P.

It struggles at it’s new BR, but that’s a symptom of compression, nothing else. And I’d far prefer one tank to suffer, than a whole BR bracket to suffer one tank.

It was, it actually has composite blocks in the hull and the plates on the turret cheek could resist HEATFS, which half the things it face during that time still using the type of ammunitions that has trouble going past its armor for most angles, with APHE they only have the mantlet area to hit. The ZTZ88A actually a T-55AM without the composite plates on the turret, it actually has the composite block in the hull so it has a chance to stop APDS.
