T55-am1 is not that good at all, compare it to any other nation’s premium, and it falls flat on its face, it lacks so many stuff, you can’t have any playstyle other than hoping for a map with enough concealment, so that you can flank and maybe get 2 kills, you can’t brawl , you can’t out reload anyone, your gun is handling is trash, mobility is a joke its average at best, no gun depression, no reverse speed, i know its a given since its a soviet tank, but still, compared to the turm 3 who has everything that the t-55 doesn’t, and that thing sits at 8.7 it could be at top tier and still perform well, give it its features and remove it from 8.7, speaking of features the darts are trash for the t-55, 336 pen on a good day.

have you played strv 104? it suffers from similar problems while also having worse armor.
i have not, but i faced it , its not that great, any quirks it has, are all negated when you shoot its transmission, its a sitting duck.
edit: thought it was the wedge, but yea that thing is also trash.
yeah! modernized early MBTs suffer in 8,3-9,3.
edit ( but if they would be in lover BR, they would probability stomp earlier variants)
only one early MBT what i know to be good is the STRV 105, it is wery funny tank whit long rod apfds in 9.3. these tanks need some love from dews.
T55s in general are trash, game wise, they’re outmatched by everything, most of my kills in the turm 3 are t55 and what not, their armor is no existent, they can’t react to anything slightly fast, the strv 104 are just sad, when i see it its like a free kill, it gets bullied by everything, and
Almost all cases are that way, and they’re harder to balance due to features that are found on modern mbts, its just that there are ones who have nothing but 2 features and called modernized.

Yes it is bad, deal with it.
When I can play superior tanks at the same BR such as T-55M, there’s no reason for me to play my own T-55AM anymore.
Or slightly better tanks at 8.7…
One problem with that tank is that the developers haven’t given the APDS-FS the 60° penetration modifier. The 100mm 3BM25, the 115mm 3BM21, and the 125mm 3BM22 are all designed the same way, but while the 125mm has correct penetration at 60°, the 115mm and 100mm penetrate less than they should at 60°.
After the BR change it’s still somewhat fine. I wouldn’t call it trash though.
