The subtree of Polish helicopters

I would love to see a Polish sub-tree, but I believe the choice to be added in Japan is a bit odd. I would rather proceed to add them for Germany instead, since this feels like a better choice and we already have a Polish presence in their tree (like the Leopard 2PL and Lim-5P - sold to GDR but produced in Poland).

This would also provide an opportunity for Polish Air Force and the Army to supplement the German Tech Tree and during the Cold War and afterwards there have been supply relationships between Poland and Eastern Germany (GDR), continuing with Germany after reunification as far as I know (i.e. Poland sold Mi-2 helicopters to GDR), so it would make more sense.

As for Japan, I would go instead with countries like South Korea or Indonesia. Similar to Poland and Germany, they had a more bloody relationship during WW2, but later on their socio-political relationships improved and I would see them a better fit for a Japanese sub-tree.

Just because something can be suggested does not mean it should be.

This is not a statement about this particular player, which should have been obvious. It is a statement about a specific subsection of the War Thunder forums Japanese community.

Would probably go to Germany if anything, as they already have the Leopard 2PL
*and need more helicopters

You described his suggestion as “average Japanese subtrees suggestion”

how Poland being in Germany is any better ? Both Japan and Germany are bad choices but Japan at least has good history with Poland

Poland in japan is just absurd. No other explanation needed.
There are 10 tech trees, japan is the least logical(or maybe second/third least logical) to put poland in

That is true. I’m just saying that putting them in Germany would be absurd as well.

Well, not quite. Germany and Poland have traded vehicles for a while after World War 2, starting with GDR (East Germany) which needed the Soviet equimpent for border protection that Russia could not provide with and they could build under license on Warsaw pact or from surplus material. Different Mig series, Mi-2s, BMPs and T-72s were provided to East Germany from Poland and after the Iron Wall collapse and German reunification, the Poles received ex-Soviet vehicles that belonged to GDR (i.e. Mig-29s offered to them for 1 Euro as a gesture of goodwill and for future colaborations: German-Polish MiG-29 Transfer Complete – DW – 08/05/2004).
And Germany continues to provide equipment and vehicles to Poland up to this day and they’re both partners of NATO and neighbouring countries, so it makes more sense to have Poland in Germany.

While Japan had relationships with Poland, you can’t deny that Germany was more impactful to the Polish military industry and army.

Poland can work as its own technology tree, it can even be coupled with Czechoslovakia if it needs a few more vehicles.

T-34-85’s, Mi-2’s, LiM’s, T-54/T-55’s and T-72’s were all bought from PRL since it was all license produced in there. Germany wasn’t the only country that bought vehicles that were made in Poland. Other Warsaw Pact countries and Middle East countries used Polish made vehicles as well. The MiG-29’s that Germany provided were not the only ones Poland had. Some were also bought from Russia. Germany is not the only country in NATO that Poland are partners with. Besides with how big German companies are, you might as well count all countries in Europe cause everyone works with them to a degree.

True, but from War Thunder’s point of view, Poland would make the most sense for Germany since they could fill some gaps in areas where Germany needs more support, like top tier Aviation. And we have the socio-political background for it as well, in the same manner how they did with Hungary for Italy or South Africa for UK.
An alternative for Poland will be USSR as well, but right now Poland is not on best terms with Russia and Gaijin can receive some backlash from the public with this choice.

As for Japan, like I said - I believe other Asian countries could support their tech trees and perhaps give us the opportunity to meet new unique vehicles as well. South Korea, Philipines or Indonesia would be a better option for it.

Not a fan of putting south korea, phillipines or indonesia to japan especially korea considering what the Japs did there but i would certainly prefer those in japan over poland
Poland could go to any tech tree other than Japan(and maybe also china, israel and USA would not be good ideas).

I know, but if we follow this logic, there wouldn’t be any minor nation compatible with Japan since they weren’t the nicest to others during World War 2. Well, except some that are already a major tree (or part of one) in war Thunder.
But alliances and international relations are changing constantly and another alternative nation would be China, which in present has worse relationships with their neighbours, especially South Korea and southern nations in Asian region.

i think united korea is most likely for korea
Japan i don’t see any compatible nations except thailand
but yeah lol Poland in japan is the last thing i expected on my suggestions bingo card for this year

Top tier aviation just wouldn’t work, Poland has basically the latest armaments for their F-16’s such as them using the AIM-9X block 2. And the FA-50 situation is quite confusing now as well.

I smell a German main mindset.

I did play a lot with Germany, yes, but I won’t shy away from any other nation either as long as they offer something interesting and unique to play:

I also went through the French helicopter tree just to experience the S.A.341 Gazelles (and hopefully more BeNeLux helicopters will join in as well):

I also did progress a good chunk of the tree towards Japan:

But I will prefer them to have more Asian-oriented vehicles in their tree and as long as this is possible, I will prefer Gaijin to make this approach. Putting Poland in Japan would limit others to join their Tech Tree and I would prefer not to.

And I said Poland would rather go well with Germany since we have already vehicles with them and the socio-economical relationship for it, another alternative would be Russia (since it was a Warsaw pact country and under USSR influence in the Cold War) but nowadays their relationship is a bit… tense.

I can tell you as a Polish person that putting Poland in Germany is a horrible idea. People still remember what happened in World War 2. No one in their right mind would be fine with this. Besides Germany is already getting Switzerland so that should solve the German Air problem.
