The state of HESH is heinous and there is no reason for it not to be fixed

For top tier it’s not going to make the greatest difference as APFSDS will always be superior to HESH, but it would still provide SOME use in some situations.

HESH state is laughable. The actual listed armour penetration is never applied and the shell instead just relies on its HE fragmentation, which is one-directional instead of spherical, so it’s literally a worse HE shell. I tried to play the FV4005 and my Centurion AVRE purely for fun - after my AVRE hit the front of a T-44 and a Sherman and only took our barrel/tracks, and my FV4005 hit the side armour of a T44 straight-on just below the turret for barrel and track damage too, I gave up.

A HESH shell of even 105mm hitting the side plate of most tanks should warrant the crew being reassembled by air crash investigators. Yet a 75kg projectile can be lobbed at a T44 at 700m/s and somehow the vehicle is still touching the floor.

@Gaijin if you want to be lazy then literally just model HESH to act as a regular HE shell. HESH doesn’t act as it should anyway, it makes no difference. At the very least the tanks that have HESH-only access will be slightly less unusable.

it should by all accounts be a better he shell with both overpressure and interior spalling. For some reason hesh bounces off surfaces or does 0 damage somehow when even if you hit the top of a tank irl it should spread out more and do more damage internally. It was frankfully insulting how they put a video on their youtube channel called hesh: underutilized shell, when it is not used a lot because of its terribly unrealistic performance

+1 I have multiple tanks that I wish I could use muh HESH rounds with 😭 Especially because many of them are slow enough to be lobbed over hills. I LOVE lobbing shells. At the very, very, very least they could make HESH act like HE until if/when they can sort out the issue with our HESH’s. They are literally “High Explosive Squash Head” shells 😂

LMAO!
