The state of bomber gameplay

I think this is the fundamental problem with ARB in general and bombers suck because they are incapable of doing this.

If they actually commited to smaller team sizes and added more game modes, i could see bombers or even dedicated strike aircraft like the Tornado, F-111, and Su-24 being more useful and fun to play. Im glad that they are going to be tweaking nuclear thunder and adding it as a game mode, but we do need more of them.

Im just spit balling atp but i can see things like

Bomber Escort / Bomber Interception

SEAD / DEAD, with the enemy team trying to counter it.

A combined arms game mode involving helicopters, aircraft, ground targets, and even naval if and when it catches up in technology to air and ground RB

Etc etc

Things like this would be quite fun to play, at least to me lol

They could so easily adapt their single player content to multiplayer

9.3 fighters are not the only issue that the 8.X-9.0 bombers have. For example, the Vautours are at least 0.7 too high since the best version for air RB is located at 8.3 and I wouldn’t call it too powerful. There’s also the B-52 being 8.7 while it can be caught by 8.3 and several 8.0 and 7.7s without a ton of effort, and the same applies to the Tu-95 and Tu-4 as well.

And that doesn’t include anyone going for multiple bases which is fairly common.

100% true. Even taking your time side climbing in prop matches in a fighter can lead to you getting one kill at most because everyone lemming trained into the middle.

More than just bombers can go for bombing targets.

Add a proximity award for killing someone if a bomber is present in let’s say 5 km radius…
Add stand off munitions like long range cruise missiles you can launch from a bomber…
Add GPS guided bombs which extend the range it drops…
Add better XP and SL gain from bombing targets in a BOMBER…

if all above will be met then bombers will be a nice thing to fly.

Air Sim is the only mode where bombers can actually perform. The only problem is the fact that you have to compete with players using their fighters as bombers and having to compete with other players trying to get to bases. Best solution is to addmore strategic bombing targets. The modular bases from the SEAD event would be perfect. Easy fix for the bomber problem in air realistic is to spread the ground targets and battles furher apart so you aren’t forced to be fighter food in the middle of the map. That makes too much sense though so we know the game director won’t do it. Note that it is extremely easy to make these changes. Literally clicking units and dragging them to different spots. I’ve done in the CDK.

It is time to change the strength of the bombers. Today it is totally unrealistic wings and tail sections shot off with one or two rounds. If we have that in the real world there were no planes at all. People don’t play bombers and gaijin put bots in the game. It is not realistic at all. It seems to me War Thunder is just a glimp of the game it was 5 years ago. Change plz.

Have you tried a new method called “turning away”? It seems like 99% of bomber players have never heard of that tech and will watch the 109 fly right towards them like a deer in headlights and die. And also then proceed to spawn in another match and do the same thing hoping for a different outcome.

And the cars on Kurk’s map could be destroyed with 2 1000 LB bombs. and now just one or two cars with 1000 lb bombs. Change the strength and make the 1000 lb bombs stronger. or the cars weaker. Don’t forget bases used to respawn in like 3 minutes after being destroyed. A timeframe when you want to bomb sure but still “managable”

As of the, if I recall correctly, Sons of Attila update that has been increased to around 7+ minutes of respawn time

That now coupled with continous decreasing of rewards and stuff getting napalm bombs, meaning 1 soviet jet at top tier can take out all 4 bases if it so desires to, just make bombers even worse of a nightmare to play.

And then people tell you you are a bad player for having a bad gamer skill score in air rb because your K/D is bad. Such a wonrld we are in here

If we talk about bases, then I suggest we have some more things to destroy. Trains buildings like that.

Bombers are just useless, 2 shots and you’re dead when aircraft with large cannons were created in real life to counter their jaggernuat status. Overall, just buy a premium top tier jet cause the whole BR system is compressed on purpose to frustrate players anyways. You’re either a prop facing jets or a mid jet facing faster jets with missile and lastly, you’re a jet with IR missiles getting killed by better jets with better missiles. Don’t waste your time just buy a premium and make it work.

Playing bombers is the equivalent of masochist CBT on a computer in this game. I NEED to beat my balls with a hammer and send it to the mods at this rate, it is that awful.

the problem too is they force you to grind for some high speed Strike aircraft too. Everytime an aircraft gets popular they move and shift them around so they end up in the bomber lineup. I just say F it and buy the premium not wasting my mental health and time making a point. I am already playing other games and this game just felt like a money pit but not as bad as COD or other triple A games. Either way, I’ve seen this type of greed it won’t last long once a new game maker shows up.

its been about nearly one year ago that the rework of bombers was announced. In the meantime this stupid ammo mechanism was implemented (maybe to nerve cas in ground battles) - in alle modes! resulting making bombers explode by even a rifle caliber hit on bombs and even detonate bombs mid-air.
Bombers are fragile like soap bubbles actually… This is totally nonsense!

I’ve been a dedicated bomber main for over a year now. I spent months enjoying the slow, strategic gameplay of lower tiers, managing my altitude, and utilizing my defensive gunners. But after recently unlocking the B-29 Superfortress, I feel completely forced to quit the game.

The current matchmaking at 7.0+ BR is mathematically broken for strategic bombers, and Gaijin’s automated balancing algorithm completely ignores the reality of gameplay:The Interceptor Contradiction: My B-29 takes 10 to 12 minutes of painful, slow climbing just to reach a safe altitude. Meanwhile, early jet and rocket interceptors (like the Me 163, Su-11, or MiG-9) can climb to 6,000+ meters in less than two minutes. The bomber air spawn advantage is entirely gone.The “Jet Hell” Reality: Propeller bombers maxing out at 500 km/h are being forced to fight 1950s jets cruising at 900+ km/h.

We are literal sitting ducks without flares or countermeasures against a player base that can close the distance before we even reach the map center.
The Match Timer Nerf: With Air RB matches cut down to 25 minutes, there isn’t even enough time to properly side-climb, bomb, return to base, and rearm. If your team dies down below in the first 5 minutes, you are trapped.Gaijin balanced the B-29 based on legacy win rates and automated statistics from years ago, effectively giving up on balancing them.
Pushing strategic bombers into high jet BRs is just a silent way of telling us, “Stop playing heavy bombers in Air RB.”

I shouldn’t have to learn how to dogfight early MiGs in a massive prop plane just to survive. If Gaijin doesn’t want us playing these legendary aircraft, they should just remove them, rather than keeping them as a permanent Silver Lion repair trap.

For those who stayed bomber mains, how do you even cope with this? Because for me, walking away from the grind feels like the only logical choice left

Gaijin just catering to the majority player base that has to much ADD to even climb above 1000m in a P-51

Yeah, screw SIM players over again because something isn’t working in a different game mode, good plan!
Gaijin has announced a planned revision of bomber damage models, but whether or not that ever actually happens is another issue (they promised attacker forward spawns a year or 2 ago now and it’s just never happened).

If they remove bombers from game I would then never die 25 times in weekend and 50 times a week , and would have to learn dogfight which I never did since rank 1

Like I joined this game a year ago bez I wasn’t interested in killing players just for realistic models and real fsituation flights and I choose bombers bez it’s not about killing players but ai targets and bases.

It might be worth trying to learn SIM then, no spotting, longer game times, bigger maps etc.
@RunaDacino and @Schindibee would probably be the best people to talk to about getting started there.
Unfortunately ARB is just extremely hostile for anyone but fighters currently.

Already playing it , it’s the only last thing left and I am doing soo, but I get catch up by mugs and their radars and they hunt like tiger vs deers ,
And at lower br if you go a bit high for safety then you won’t see base by your naked eyes and low enough to be killed, but still trying to mainin my moral by playing sim , it’s expensive like I sometimes loose 100 k in one day but keeps me happy
And BTW who wants to play in this cockpit view bruh
