The standards to revise M1A2 SEPv3's armor NEED to be revised and calibrated

I wonder what will happen in the future with really modern vehicles that are mostly classified. Will they have any upgrades over their predecessor or what ?

Well the sepv3 is a perfect example of this so probably no

Because what is the point of adding a new Abram’s if it’s going to be virtually identical to the other 2

Anyone think it’s worth reporting the M1111 MRM-KE & -CE?

Hmm. If I would be Gaijin I would just be like “Fine, here is yours +20mm against kinetic and +80mm against explosive. Upgraded? Upgraded.”

They’ll just fantasize about what they believe it has and implement that as a “(not so) educated guess”.

Making the SEPv3 not just a worse SEPv1 in game would probably be a decent reason.

And then we can move it to 13.0 with some other vehicles.

I am not well versed on that, but I’m sure there are other topics for it where you may find more information about it!

I’d like that

We know that even by the 1990s there were packages that provided +35% KE and +65% CE; and by the 2000s, we start looking at 650mm KE figures… so there’s a few guidelines as to what would be the LEAST we should expect.

I think it should protect against American estimates for rounds like 3BM69 and whatever they tested on object 195 2a83

But that’s just personal speculation

FTS-2 was the Obj. 477, which you can see at the bottom of the following excerpt and was projected to penetrate ~700mm RHA

No, there game balance should come first. None of mbts LFP should hold any kind of ammunition it meets. Maybe against T-64A and 72A but not against tanks who have something like 3BM42 as first APDSFS

I remember seeing a 1000mm 3BM69 estimate from some official looking paper

Some more fuel for the fire gents:

Here is a photo of hull where the external armor cover is clearly freshly welded on. It originates from GDLS website: https://web.archive.org/web/20240718142806/https://www.gdls.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/IMG_9013-scaled.jpg

The image has been around since at least 2022, at which the SEPv3 was in production at Lima.

This is only done to replace the armor. You can see the same fresh external armor plates on these production turrets:

This can also be seen on the M1A1-HA recently received by the armor CAV collection that had its DU armor removed:

A tank hull being worked on at GDLS during SEPv3 production run clearly has had its armor changed.

On another note, I’ve also seen claimed that the LOS of the hull armor was improved on SEPv3. This is not the case. As you can see below, it is still 600mm to the weld line of the 101mm backplate (701mm LOS total) like all Abrams:

Tons of reports for Chinese tanks using clear images from factories just like these have gotten them nowhere, but I admire the hope nonetheless

Mayhaps a community poll asking how much armor should be increased by

Abrams actually does hold it, with some nuance. one of best mbts in game after all

gajub are bad at decompression tho. i’d say we need 13.7 in ground trees (remember how bad 4-5 rank balancing is as well) and 15.3 in air already

If am not wrong they didn’t accept a bug report in which a Thesis approved by the Army specified that the Abrams had 600mm of effective ke protection in the hull.

Gaijin excuse was “We do not accept thesis as a source” I would get it if it was a thesis made by a non organization related to the US military but this one was made by one and certified by one.

That applies to all other nations as well tbh (except maybe Sweden)
