The "Silent Killer" Missile - MBDA MICA - Performance and Discussion Thread (WIP)

At the end of the day you are right, i have no proofs, i just tested them in test drive and they felt very different, far too different to be just me i feel like.

That’s why i hoped Smin could maybe clarify a bit (aside from the range issue), even if i don’t think he has info on that matter tbh

This seems to have effect all of the TVC missiles, including R-73 even though nothing in the files have changed. So it doesn’t seem to be specific to just the MICA.

Was the TVC buff just pushed to live or is it still only on dev? I was messing around in test drive and hit a more than 180 shot with the MICA

interesting, it would point to a change in the code handling the logic itself even more then

that would be impossible to know, afaik the leakers and dataminers don’t have access to the code itself

didn’t notice any difference on live though. I can very occasionally hit a 180° shot, but it’s not new

Mica works fine in test drive, it doesnt even really wobble. It wobbles AF in normal match on server.

Yeah I haven’t noticed any major wobbling when just messing around, sometimes it will make a little S pattern but not a huge one

Guess I gotta grind some more to mess around in an actual game

MICA NG for Mirage 2000D RMV too ?

MICA IR isn’t coming to the game for months or even a year, there is a zero percent chance the NG version will show up within the next calendar year.

I predict that gaijin might ready 5th generation infrared Air-to-Air Missile for attack aircraft & tactical strike aircraft top tier in the first major update 2025.

And 5th generation infrared Air-to-Air Missile on fighter aircraft top tier for second or third major update after decompression battle rating to 14.3

There’s nothing to suggest that and even if there was, it would still be an enormous mistake. Current IRCCM missiles are difficult enough to defeat once they’re off the rail, anything more modern would be an order of magnitude more difficult. There’s no reason to add more advanced weapons right now and if they want “balance” to exist at all. The only thing I could see being added is the R77-1 for Russia to give them a very slight increase in ranged performance over the base R77.

Most are pretty straight forward to evade. Only bothersome one is 9M and that’s purely on account of sod all warning. Though the sod all warning could just be a network issue on account of playing from Aus.

Would depend on how they modeled the countermeasures tbch. For BOL, if it were modeled correctly, defeating advanced IR missiles should be relatively straight forward. Not too much more tedious than current IR threats. But it would require an overhaul of IR stuff.

I might believe sometime 2025 gaijin could add 5th gen IR missile for attack aircraft & tactical strike aircraft top tier (not all) before fighter aircraft top tier

Sorry might off-topic thread, but at present MiG-29SMT 9-19 only carry R-77-1

I don’t mind MiG-29SMT 9-19 battle rating up to 14.0 if received R-77-1

Personally, I think R-77-1/RVV-SD for russian 4th & 4.5 gen fighter aircraft battle rating at 14.0 and higher

This is not awesome

Pretty sure most folk realised this.

I had a suspicion but I can’t access the dev server so I had no way to confirm it so had to rely on others

called it

I can confirm his saying MICA files did not got touched during dev servers it’s just that the servers lag less du to less player load so more stability for the MICA. If we wanted to get wobbling issues out of our way we’d literally have to ask for servers with more bitrate and i doubt gaijin would buy new servers for 1 missile LMAO.

But yeah now this thread should re-activate as we need to find a way to make the devs fix MICA as fast as possible.

Its simple… reduce its diameter, drag and make it actually viable at bvr ranges - stated 80km range. Not where it detonates after 50km. Or they should just create some exemption for mica where as long as its launched above certain range, lets say 10km, it wont activate TVC and will act as regular missile so it wont wobble around as crazy. Just have two spawns (afaik if you launch missile, it literally spawns) for mica - one TVC, one non TVC, spawn non TVC if launch is over 10km.
