At this point it’s 100% sure the Rafale will come with only 6 MICAs. If MICA doesn’t get fixed there will be no reason to play the Rafale over basically any other top tier aircraft, since you get:
at least 2 less total missiles compared to other meta jets
basically half the effective range of opposing AMRAAM
a dogfight missile that randomly spins itself into oblivion
a BVR missile that blows itself out for no reason when it manages to reach 50km
It would be a blunder for Gaijin if the long-expected Rafale comes into the game with such a gimped and uncompetitive kit. RN M2K is arguably better for ARB since it at least gets 2 more missiles to compensate for the bad performance of the MICA.
I will add that leaving reports unanswered like the devs did for the MICA is really bad for the community. Bug Reporters spend huge resources to help improve the game, and quickly wear out when their work isn’t aknowledged by Gaijin.
The devs saying they can’t fix the missile for balance reason (or explaining why they don’t fix it) would have been 10 times better than ignoring the matter completely as they did.
i don’t see why people would play Rafale in the first place : there is no MICA-IR on a F.3R variant,… no Meteor(even if this one would be problematic) and MICA-EM isn’t fixed yet.
personnaly, i might research it, but never play it outside of Custom vs AI’s - no reason to play an aircraft that is castrated,…
the F.1 or F.2.2 Standards would have been enough for what Gaijin needed.
Isn’t there someone to ask to so the devs go back on the main reports about the mica ?
the thing is mica is the fastest missile in game but has huge drag so even Tho it reaches max speed faster it loses it faster the game, the MICA EM missile was nerfed to have significant drag, making it lose speed quickly despite reaching Mach 4.50. This nerf limits its dominance by preventing sustained high-speed chases, aligning with the game balnce adjustments.
It’s like giving our speedy sprinter a heavy backpack—still fast off the start but can’t maintain that speed for long distances.
when you look at its performants from 10 seconds to 15 seconds it just took 5 seconds to drain mica EM a whole .91 Mach on non-manoeuvring target in just 5! seconds went from 3.91 Mach to Mach 3
insane nerf guys!! worse than r77
It was consistently worse than R77 because at least R77 would make it to range. Now MICA doesn’t even function adequately for a dogfight missile.
it’s so cooked oml
I’m not following well, what happened to MICA EM on dev server compared to live? Did they change the missile aerodynamics/guidance to make it turn worse and still wobble itself out of all the energy it has?
The MICA IR scares the shiznits out of me (tbf same with the ASRAAM and Python IV).
I live in fear of the day I will be jumpscared by a devblog announcing the addition of it (and the other missiles mentioned)
i’ll just link this here :
The mica is able to reach mach 5.2 if fired high, but even with that amount of speed, it won’t go past 50.8km, no matter its energy state or its current time of flight.
It seems they made it so it self explodes past that travelled distance
they did not change mica em in the time being but its at its nerfed stat so that’s why we ask for 100% performers’ to be implemented in game this updated
I asked a mod if they could bring the matter to the devs attention. Hope it’ll work out.
Oki, because i’m still unsure how those things works, thanks.
The funny thing is no one knows, since Gaijin very rarely communicate on the bug reporting process itself
Evidently you need to sacrifice the dollar amount of 3 goats to get listened to.
Hello @Smin1080p_WT, sorry for pinging
Regarding the MICAs, it seems the developers made some tweaking to its close range maneuverability in the dev server, would you know if something is in the works reagarding its range, following the bug reports made by DirectSupport in June ?
It would help the Rafale a bit against fast AMRAAM slingers, especially if it is planned to stay with the 6 missiles configuration.
Thank you.
The changes to the MICA are most likely due to the devserver being more stable than live, which already happened for previous updates. IIRC nothing was actually changed in the files.
as far as i’m aware, the files (at least the ones present on gszabi’s github) are just “configuration” files (a set of values, if you will), not the actual functions / methods calling said values. Maybe the change was made in the logic itself, and not just these values. MICAs really seem to be pulling more AoA than before, and their behavior when the target gets outside their gimbal limit seems to have changed too (they just lose the track and go straight, which isn’t happening on live afaik).
A shame i didn’t check the R73s to see if something changed with those
It’d be great if you’re right. guess we’ll find out once the patch drops.
