But it should not do mach 3 vertical and the maneuvering capability is temporarily hampered to prevent the funny spin issue it shares with R-73
The day the snail manages to properly tune a PID controller for a decently modern missile will be a day to be remembered.
Been having issues with MICA lately, ‘hitting’ people for zero damage. Turns out the warhead is 1/2 the size of the AIM-120, but the proximity fuse is identical. No wonder. The missile needs a proximity fuse copied from the AIM-9D/C (similar warhead explosive mass), instead of AIM-120 (2x MICA explosive mass). Or the warhead is wrong, which also might be possible.
Or gaijin could implement its historic directional warhead so that the decreased mass doesn’t impact its lethality. Not that they have the desire or technical ability to do that.
With the Rafale coming to the game with a restricted loadout of 6 A2A missiles, it is more than time for the MICA to be fixed.
Here are some of @DirectSupport’s reports from a few months ago, that were aknowledged but never implemented. If fixed, the MICA would get a substancial buff to both range and manoeuvrability.

Hey @Smin1080p_WT, sorry to bother you but this is a rather important issue that affects the Rafale’s potency a lot. Do you know if we can expect these fixes soon ?
Edit : some more reports
Seeker range : Community Bug Reporting System
Guidance delay : Community Bug Reporting System
Directional warhead : Community Bug Reporting System
Reduced smoke : Community Bug Reporting System
Flame color : Community Bug Reporting System
yeah it is really annoying, we are still missing 30km for the mica em at max range it’s not normal now.
It is very urgent, but I really don’t think they’ll do anything. They’re focused on EFT instead of Rafale.
A developer response to this is very much needed at this reports.
You can add those reports :
- Seeker range : Community Bug Reporting System
- Guidance delay : Community Bug Reporting System
- Directional warhead : Community Bug Reporting System
At this point it’s 100% sure the Rafale will come with only 6 MICAs. If MICA doesn’t get fixed there will be no reason to play the Rafale over basically any other top tier aircraft, since you get:
-
at least 2 less total missiles compared to other meta jets
-
basically half the effective range of opposing AMRAAM
-
a dogfight missile that randomly spins itself into oblivion
-
a BVR missile that blows itself out for no reason when it manages to reach 50km
It would be a blunder for Gaijin if the long-expected Rafale comes into the game with such a gimped and uncompetitive kit. RN M2K is arguably better for ARB since it at least gets 2 more missiles to compensate for the bad performance of the MICA.
I will add that leaving reports unanswered like the devs did for the MICA is really bad for the community. Bug Reporters spend huge resources to help improve the game, and quickly wear out when their work isn’t aknowledged by Gaijin.
The devs saying they can’t fix the missile for balance reason (or explaining why they don’t fix it) would have been 10 times better than ignoring the matter completely as they did.
i don’t see why people would play Rafale in the first place : there is no MICA-IR on a F.3R variant,… no Meteor(even if this one would be problematic) and MICA-EM isn’t fixed yet.
personnaly, i might research it, but never play it outside of Custom vs AI’s - no reason to play an aircraft that is castrated,…
the F.1 or F.2.2 Standards would have been enough for what Gaijin needed.
Isn’t there someone to ask to so the devs go back on the main reports about the mica ?
the thing is mica is the fastest missile in game but has huge drag so even Tho it reaches max speed faster it loses it faster the game, the MICA EM missile was nerfed to have significant drag, making it lose speed quickly despite reaching Mach 4.50. This nerf limits its dominance by preventing sustained high-speed chases, aligning with the game balnce adjustments.
It’s like giving our speedy sprinter a heavy backpack—still fast off the start but can’t maintain that speed for long distances.
and as Direct Support did bug report here with amazing proofs that mentioned mica has huge drag lack of speed and is about a massive 34% worse than what it should be at least at 12km in irl from ground lunch mica em can reach 12km with speed of around Mach 1.25 can 30g pull while in game it can only reach 0,84 Mach which what mica em in irl would reach at 18km and that is huge nerf to it performants
when you look at its performants from 10 seconds to 15 seconds it just took 5 seconds to drain mica EM a whole .91 Mach on non-manoeuvring target in just 5! seconds went from 3.91 Mach to Mach 3
insane nerf guys!! worse than r77
It was consistently worse than R77 because at least R77 would make it to range. Now MICA doesn’t even function adequately for a dogfight missile.
it’s so cooked oml
I’m not following well, what happened to MICA EM on dev server compared to live? Did they change the missile aerodynamics/guidance to make it turn worse and still wobble itself out of all the energy it has?
The MICA IR scares the shiznits out of me (tbf same with the ASRAAM and Python IV).
I live in fear of the day I will be jumpscared by a devblog announcing the addition of it (and the other missiles mentioned)
i’ll just link this here :
The mica is able to reach mach 5.2 if fired high, but even with that amount of speed, it won’t go past 50.8km, no matter its energy state or its current time of flight.
It seems they made it so it self explodes past that travelled distance
