And I never mentioned front armor so I’m not sue what you are talking about.
The Panthers 40mm side armor was already near the limit of the ability of the 14.5mm tungsten core bullet to penetrate and would have required a shot from or less 100m with little to no side angle.
If 14.5mm were such a big deal, they could have increased the side armor by 5mm and it would have had the same effect as 5mm thick sideskirts.
As I’ve explained the Panther II was supposed to improve the Panther II in a number of ways that wasn’t good enough to justify, switching production at one point.
A Panther like medium tank, or with a similiar gun, like the Firefly, would have been a great threat to a heavy tank like the Tiger, thus the Tiger II H was built to improve upon the outdated design.
In case of the Panther there was little point to improve it against future threats since it was already quite capable in terms of armor, firepower and mobility.
If you read the whole page, you will find that actually, there was a woden mokup of the panther turret with an 8.8cm Kw.K.43 L/71, the thing is there are no photos of it, it was a secret project from the germans, they burned all before the allies get there.
Anyways they should come back as the Maus, every purchasable and usable vehicle in War Thunder should be aviable for everyone, via Gaijin Market, via annyversary sales, for temporaly time, like Maus and the first flight thing, on the new boxes that War Thunder implemented where you can get past event vehicles, even thosse that are not aviable to sell or purchase in the Market. Every player on war thunder should have the chance to get this vehicles.
An example could be the German M4, that come 2022 annyversary sales, winther quiz with the zwilling that come in 2023 annyversary sales, along with the KV-220 and other non obtainable vehicles from events or that are not in sale anymore.
it’s kinda funny how you deny it and get likes just because it’s russian despite the fact the records are even registered by a western company Records | World Air Sports Federation
Sorry for the missunderstanding, but about the posibilities of the existance of the Panther II, the Hull was finished with wider ring to make more space for the crew and the turret to fit in (Schmalturm) was finished, even there was a Mok-Up of it with the 8.8, it was possible, but it was too late for the War, so the project just didn’t make sense anymore.
Narrow turret came to be way later and is unrelated in the way we know it on the Panther F.
Nope Panther 2 didn’t have a different gun. The Panther with 8.8cm project came to be over a year later after the work on the Panther 2 stopped
Panther 2 project happened and stopped before the Panther A started production. Aka 1943. So while late, its not exactly much later than the Panther D.
8.8cm on Panther is late war, but also not exactly so late it doesn’t make sense given its just a turret and gun change (with associated changes)
Yes a different vehicle than in game was possible. By cobbling together unrelated projects you can make a “” Panther 2 “”. That is what the one in Warthunder is, a bunch of unrelated projects put together, except it wouldn’t actually work.
There exists a Panther 2 with a Panther G turret in the US, it was just never in Germany in that state. The Panther 2 prototype hull in Germany, given when work was stopped, would likely in a “completed” form have a Panther D or Panther A turret. And later turret designs would not be produced over a year after work was stopped
They canceled the Project not because of the War, but because they realized adding another tank model to their production would stretch their capabilities to produce vehicles in large quantities. Others dispute that and this, but an engineer simply welded some skirts to the side of the tank, helping to combat ATRs and potentially heat rounds to an extent. Possibly helped but unsure against small caliber cannons. Mind you others and I aren’t entirely sure about the story since it could be False, partially true but overly exaggerated or is the truth.
