The premium vehicle culture problem - Do people even play this game for fun anymore?

Once you realize that the event vehicles aren’t that special, the FOMO goes away. Some cool vehicles do come along from the events, but just think about how often do you actually use them? I know for me, I barely ever touch them again. I’m too busy grinding other vehicles in the game.

I have never bothered with the battle pass. I dont feel like i’ve missed out on anything. With it now doable in ASB, I might occasionally have a look at what is on offer now. But I will never go out of my way to grind the pass because the rewards arent worth it.

It varies, some vehicles should be in the TT but get pushed behind an event, there’s probably well over a dozen vehicles a year you miss out on, and then dozens more with the BP, some people can build entire lineups out of event vehicles that people missed out on or are from 2017 or whatever and they didn’t play the game even.

234/4 is a great vehicle that really adds to the lineup of Germany, but you can’t have it.

There is also no dismissing that some premiums are also just really fun/good. Plagis Spitfire is really fun and the HMS Belfast is really solid cruiser

Premiums are fine if they’re just alternatives, but so many premiums are just unique and offer something not find in the TT, paired with what, 50? 100? more? vehicles that aren’t available in the TT the gap between new and old players, and old and really dedicated players is massive.

Yeah, I feel bad for anyone who starts playing war thunder because there are so many vehicles that they will never get to play.

I’ve missed out on a lot of vehicles. That’s just the nature of a game that has unique event rewards. Not everybody can have everything. I honestly don’t feel like I’m missing out on much. I’d rather have my sanity.

Even those who have played, a lot of the events you could only get some of the rewards and had to give up on others or they were just too grindy, even having all the time for the IS-7 event I still was unable to complete that.

Not everyone can have everything if you design it as such.

I wish I could have fun in this game.

90% of the time I don’t.

The premium 1DL spam is not super high on the list of why I don’t enjoy the game.

Russian Bias is one of my primary beefs with the game.

That’s how I feel re Tiger II 105 and Panther II. I would absolutely love to have them, even more so because German 6.7 is my most played lineup by a country mile. I’d legit pay for them.

… Tbh I never understood why they don’t just make them tradable on the marketplace. That way, their total number would stay the same. But those who have no use for them can make some money, and those who want to play them have the chance.

i have been saying this for years now, but all i get is shitty responses.
I totally agree with you.
And i also feel it ruins all other lower br’s because no-one cares, just hold w, shoot, die then do it again to gain rp as quickly as possible to get to high tier then play without any awareness and die after 1 death.
Would be a bit more acceptable if they ruined all the lower br’s gameplay in order to get to top tier and play well… but they dont, they treat other br’s as noob territory for grinding JUST to be useless at toptier.
Its like losing all decent gameplay across all tiers just to do the same at high tier.
Understandable people may want tank x or tank y - but i feel majority do so because they feel that getting top tier is the ultimate goal for the game. when in reality- its really not.

That’s why I said changing the economy would only make things worse. Already in the previous one, which everyone complained about, thousands of bots farmed with premium vehicles, it was enough to enter the point and throw smoke, die and the result was surprising - you earned 1.2k XP and 12k SL. If someone does not feel the consequences of their stupidity, they will never learn that they are doing something wrong, try harder or think about what to do better. Just like other people wrote “w” shoot and die. And the next one. And you stay in 3 minutes with 10 people in gray. Those who see this lose the sense of any care about winnings. MM still manipulates the game to such an extent that if you’re doing too poorly, it will give you a few better games against weaker opponents, if you’re doing too well, the weaker ones will become your team all the time, which only translates into frustration. Well, if all the time only 2 people play out of 16 people, and 14 die, drive, die, generally do absolutely nothing in the game, why should I try to get them a bonus for winning? The “win” bonus should be proportional to the first 3 players on the left and right side, and those who had a “bad” game and didn’t contribute in any way in the match should have a minimum prize.

agree 100%

Prem verhicle vs non prem verhicle to grind = almost impossible. I did it once trying reach rank 7 Germany. Result from 6 month gameplay with non premium account and non premium verhicle= rank 5 light tank.

I came back after 4 month break from WT and try it with premium accoun+prem verhicle in USSR
(TO-55) and the result is totally different in 1 week. Reaching rank 4 in one week with only prem tank, free boosters, prem account)

End result is that that premium give you a lot of advantage were you spend hours, weeks, months to grind one or two ranks is that premium make you grind easier. It depend how much you want to spend each month on WT.

Most people want to have the maximum with a minimal effort. That’s what life and our society is up to. Working hard on yourself and get better is a long way and can include too fail. People don’t want to look on themself and they really don’t want to admit that they are the part of the problem. So everyone want to get as fast as possible to the toptier with the big believe that they can rule everything from up there. It’s a hard wakeup call when they arrive there. Even bigger surprise if you pay for the big ones when you start and get punched in the face by those players who worked hard for their toptier.
Next step is to come here and cry about how bad this all is and how greedy gaijin is. And yesterday there was a topic with the perfect example … not a single clue who made the decision to play the game but gaijin is the one to blame and even wish people death.
Yes the game has big problems. But it is our job to ask friendly for fixes or the other way is to just adapt or quit the game.

Premiums are for ppl that have a job and does not have time to gring like a tard all day with the normal vehicles or planes, I understand those who are crying about the premiums are just ppl whitout a job.

Um no, there is no reason to have top tier premiums, in ARB, people just buy their way to 11.3, they get dragged into 12.0/12.3 matches and they die. There is no benefit to having them on your team, I would rather have a rank 100 Spitfire Mk XXIV than a rank 2 F-4S who doesn’t even know how to use missiles.

First started in 2012, took a big break until 2014, took another til 2018, and have played solid ever since.

To me, premium vehicles have always been line-up fillers. I wouldn’t just play premium vehicles, and it’s sad that there are people whose stat cards are basically all premium vehicles. Much of the fun in this game is provided by vehicles in the tech tree. Use them.

A premium account is more important than just a single premium vehicle. Grind up that tree. Don’t worry about how long it takes. The grind is the game. Open your mind to different eras. All too often I come across people who only want to play jets, but then they miss out on the fun that is WW2 battles, etc.
