These are also naval radars and consequently gigantic so not exactly comparable.
oh we’re talking about ARB sorry mate I know what you mean by LMURs though
The Iron Dome has “combat-proven” track record against home-made unguided missiles… once an actual modern balistic missile enterd the scene… we all saw what happened to the Iron Dome.
But regardless. In WT… yes, 20 ready-to-go missiles with good radar and enough DL channels… yeah it will be effective for intercepting ordnance, but we allready have this (for most of the nations) in WT… in the face of NASAM/CLAW (granted the radar is abusmal - it remind me of the Su-27SM2 or pre-AESA EF2000 radars); SAMP/T; IRIS-T (yeah its limited in DL’s); Sky Sabre; SPYDER and BUK… only the Elde is crying alone in the corener.
The SPY-1 pretty much operates exactly like the MPQ-53, just with vastly better performance.
They are comparable in operation, not performance, hence why I mention it.
Iron Dome isn’t used vs ballistic missiles. Lol. Thats Arrow or David’s territory.
Iron dome is used vs. Kassam’s, Grads, Mortars etc Short range stuff. And its track record is superb.
Drones get downed by shorad systems, helicopter gunships, ships and jet fighters.
Huh, the more you know… Ok. They all HAD superb track record… against home-made bottle rockets.
Edit: I’m starting to go overboard and I’m ending it now. Let’s not continue because it will end in politics and nothing good will come of that. We agree to dissagree with each other. The thread is diluted enough as it is.
The biggest problem with SAM’s/SPAA’s and CAS are (even before the Pantsir SM-SV) the helicopters. With a prober radar return and IRL accurate LDIRCM they are dead… useless. Now they’re in some way OP… how can we balance them I don’t know.
I distinctly remember saying to people demanding these long range stand off munitions that we would be in this position.
Low and behold here we are.
the issue with the long range sams is they also counter literally every other fixed wing cas which has shorter range munitions, and effectively eliminate the attack planes.
Imagine actually expecting the muppets who just want “new” stuff to think the game should be fixed.
Most players who have been here for more than 5 years would much rather see a few patches of balance, reworks and QoL than see yet another high BR plane, heli or tank added which tips the scales in someones favour drastically. and I don’t just mean russia, 2A7, IRIS T. 5 second reload buffs etc etc all murdered a lot of variety at higher BRs
How are you dying 5 seconds after spawning to the pantsir? the other SPAA out range it substantially, you seriously must just be flying directly towards the map lol.
I’ve managed to get in and get kills with a JH7A without dying to it.
As has been proven time and time again, players want to put in as little effort as possible, these radar screens for SPAA are an example of that tbh
Definitely flew towards the battlefield and made no efforts to move.
If I can get a JH7A in they can get an F15E inxD
I disagree
if it did there would be less videos of active pantsirs getting hit by drones
There is one of an FPV type, it was never really designed for them in mind. It is still a great system for intercepting larger targets and cruise missiles, it has proven its worth. Contrary to popular belief, not everything that Russia makes is trash.
Anyway, my main gripe with this Pantsir is the hypersonic missile, it did not need it at all to be competitive, they already have BUK for that.
You say that as if it was a bad thing
there have been a lot more than one of those videos
I think there have been ~20+ of those videos
The earlier versions of Patriot (MIM-104A through E, the big 900kg ones that only fit four per launcher) do not have thrust vectoring, but the fact they’re mounted on a fixed elevation turret instead of a vertical launcher does partially make up for this. Later Patriot versions (MIM-104F and MIM-104F MSE) have maneuvering thrusters in the forebody of the missile that allow for sharp course corrections immediately after launch (pictured below on the MSE variant) in addition to improving maneuverability in the terminal phase, though they still lack a thrust vectoring motor. This is rather important because the Patriot launchers are not able to traverse a full 360 degrees (±135 degrees if I recall correctly), so these thrusters allow the missile to be fired “over-the-shoulder” at a target within that blind zone of the launcher.
It is a war, Pantsir was never designed with smaller FPV threats in mind. Everything in game works at 100% efficiency, so it’s not representative of how it works IRL. Russian AD is definitely no joke and Ukrainian pilots are aware of it, you see more Pantsirs destroyed than any other RU anti-air because it was literally designed for front line combat. Both sides destroy each other’s AD with small loitering drones.
10 12.7 GRB games played.
Once again, 3 wins (teamed up with Russia in those 3 games), and 7 losses against Russia.
Gotta love the balance in this game.
Maybe because Iron Dome its not made to counter ballistic missiles? (we dont even have ballistic missile ingame) Thats the job for David Sling/Patriot, but even so, theres a video of a Iron Dome succesfully intercepting a ballistic missile lol
https://www.youtube.com/shorts/7FdhT_YuzUs
Ballistic missiles are easily intercepted before they start diving, something iron dome doesnt have that much range or speed, and so you have to pray it actually works when very close range, like in the video.
Unless you can prove that the Pantsir (or the USSR CAS) was a factor in those matches, that win rate doesn’t really mean anything
The matchmaking isn’t skill based, so you can just end up getting terrible teams in a bunch of matches in a row
My point its that Iron Dome its good at intercepting munitions, even prooven in IRL conflicts, so its nothing to refer as “laughable”.
I don’t know, play 100 12.7-13.0 GRB games in a row and give us the wins/losses results.
Already know the future russian winrate : 70-90%.
E v e r y top tier games (8 out of 10 games) are lost against Russia. Check it yourself.
