I have made two separate recordings on this after I failed to do any damage to a BV 238 after unloading all my rounds from the IL-2 (1944) into it’s wings, body, tail, engines, and gunners.
I have decided to run a few tests. First I have used the NASAMS 3 (TEL), two units, and unloaded both full batteries consisting of AIM-120C-7 missiles, into a flying Be-6. I have managed to get a “Severe Damage” notification after a few hits.
Now, I do understand that the bombers were far too fragile and easy to kill before. But making them have the same level of endurance to almost any ammunition as an E-100 or an Obj. 279 is just simply stupid. So many updates, we go from one extreme to the other. All aircraft can be one-tapped, every helicopter can get one-tapped, and they have received changes, from what I remember a few updates back, making them take damage much stronger, resulting in damage of multiple modules. Did it become harder to play on helicopters? Sure. Does that mean we need to make them a Prince Rupert’s Drop, where the cockpit is the only way to 100% guarantee shooting a helicopter down in a huge majority of scenarios? No, of course not.
With the test I tried using the Pzh 2000 with the 155m M107 (PF) round, normally, it would’ve ripped the plane apart. Any plane and any helicopter or UAV with a good hit. And until I hit the pilot directly, having the round explode right into the cockpit, I kept getting the “hit” message, with only 1 “Critical Hit”.
I know a ton of people post about it, but I feel it has to be posted over and over to make a change. It has to be spoken about, discussed, with people showing their own experience, their own encounters with enemy bombers, the amount of kills the bombers now get, and how the Arcade, Realistic, and Simulator modes now look with these new additions.
