Oh boy, with Mi28NMs and the new Pantsir now paired together, I don’t even wanna see the state of 13.0 right now
I think Gaijin should start considering better SACLOS options for Western forces, dodging ARH missiles in helicopters is way too trivial and easy.
Are there actually any? Im pretty sure the current SACLOS imbalance is mainly because the west simply doesnt operate that stuff in the 21st century
Germany could get HFK-NV, it is a hypersonic missile faster than the new Pantsir’s missile, it should be compatible with the Roland family of SPAAs. Sadly, it never went anywhere, but it did exist and was trialed. Gaijin would have to conjure or make some fictional Roland SPAA for this missile.
Welp and theres the problem. Theres no world in which Gaijin will do that.
It would still be limited to only 4 missiles before (assuming very long) reload that would also need it’s own radar vehicle.
I don’t see you giving any better ideas lmao 😭
Because there might not be any ?
They could always return the Fictionwaffe programme and add a couple of things like they did before.
Or just add an air defense complex with both missile and gun batteries
Isn’t this missile IR guided?
It’s saclos guided which shifts over to IIR guidance when the missile comes in range to acquire the target by itself
If missile is forced into IIR then good luck with helicopters.
It’s so boring. I have the top Russia team , but the queue is too long and I can’t enter the game. LMAO. Half of the match are Russia vs Russia
Plus, NATO MBTs got their basket modeled now, too
NATO must suffer hard right now
realistically, IIR would fallback to INS or in case of HFK, SACLOS/ACLOS.
by the way, did i mention its a mach 7+ missile?
Can you tell me in which source from your topic this is said, if it doesn’t cause you much trouble? Because I couldn’t find semi-active → IR anywhere. Only saw proposed semi-active guidance without IR.
i am talking about a specific missile called the HFK-KV
if you read the suggestion, youll find the following:

Man i just played in a SPYDER against this and i just don’t get it. I can see the Heli, not hidden. How does the Derby not hit the Heli? I just don’t understand how a missle cannot hit a target that i can literally see with my eyes!
Thats because of how aarh seekers of pulse doppler radars work in game atm. A heli that is hovering or almost hovering has basically 0 closure rate towards or from the missile and if moving sideways is basically in a perfect notch, thus producing no pd return (correct me if im wrong).
Additional to that it can move sidways slowly and chaff, defeating even iog guidance of the missile in that perfect notch or the crème de la crème: do all of that while in multipathing height. But basically just hovering in place is already enough to defeat almost all aarh missiles atm (maybe except the one with giant trigger and proxy fuze radius which might still cause catastrophic damage even if they miss, as long as the heli is above proxy activation alt).
Basically as soon as the radar lock shows a sufficient closure rate of the heli (moving towards or from the launcher/radar vehicle) and is above multipath height (visisble by not having the two overlapping hardlock/tws lock brackets around the helis drifting around the actual target: as long as its one bracket around it more than 60 m above ground) then the arh missile should hit. Well problem is, if hes just hovering youre basically hoping for iog guiding the missile into his proxy fuze radius. So basically RNG. The stuff that war thunder is made of.
It feels as if its just a thing they didnt want to model correctly (heli blades should give a very big pd return if it was modelled correctly) so that helis that are just climbing up spamming missiles arent automatically dead to an insanely fast missile that will hit 100% of times. Really not sure why they arent already modelling heli blades pd returns since multipathing missiles or driving them into the ground would be enough counterplay and helis would be way less opressive and just more challenging to play. Classic half assd gaijin implementation, so nothing new.
