Technically yes but before the BR decompression it was a fantastic example of Late WW2 technology being eclipsed by late cold war technology there was no reason for those two things to meet eachother.
The BR decompression was very good but 8.7 still needs work, you can’t push it up further though until more top end decompression happens.
I didn’t realise the OBJ 279 was added to the tech tree, last I saw it was a once off event vehicle that doesn’t keep coming back.
I don’t understand why people go on about the obj. No one has trouble killing me in the thing and I don’t find them hard to kill either. They have the same weak spots Russian main battle tanks have on the turret and side on a weak turret ring
I use the Maus a lot in SB, and a fair bit in RB. I’m not a great player but I still get good results with it. That tells me that the vehicle is honestly really competitive at 7.7. You also get many more full downtiers than usual at that BR.
I know many people disagree, but I think the Maus is an excellent tank in game, and I’d go so far as to say that it could easily be tech tree again. In a full downtier, it’s very strong but not unstoppable, and in a full uptier, it’s outmatched but not hopeless. Which is pretty much the standard for heavies in this game.
People need to learn how the Maus plays, if they want to use it. Personally, I find that it requires a complete mental switch from most other vehicles I play… it’s the one where I feel there is the smallest amount of “transferable skills” that you develop playing anything in Ground RB. You kind of need to create a bespoke style to use the Maus. For that reason alone I find it very interesting to play.
The point is not to discuss the 279, the point is that everything you said with it being killable and all can also be said about the Maus.
I never had a hard time dealing with a Maus since in order to shoot at you it exposes its huge weakspots. If any tank at your BR can pen a super heavy, then maybe it should go down a bit.
No the point is you said the same rules don’t apply to the 279 and they do. Even more so because it was a once off vehicle while the maus was in the tech tree for years and comes back every Christmas.
Say it goes to 7.3 and gets down tiered to 6.3, how many tanks can kill it even if it’s not angled
It must be said however that the overall existing supply is not permanently stuck at the original event number. A few more drop every now and then, they did with the ice cream buckets, which lowered the price a bit as one would expect.
6.3 is a bit too low indeed so instead of lowering its BR, the solution would be to limit the uptiers because let’s be honnest, with a Maus you face missiles launchers and jet way more often than you face IS-2s.
Maybe limit it to 8.0 or .3 so it doesn’t feel useless as often.
Give superheavy tanks/SPGs a distinct class from normal heavy tanks, with their own spawn cost. Maus can be ok even at 7.0, if it required something like 500 SP to spawn. In late game, It’s gonna get bombed anyway before it leaves the spawn, lmao.
Isn’t for now but could be a good idea for a lot of tanks, mostly the slow and heavy ones that only rely on armour.
Not sure why you say it won’t be but I sure hope it happens one day.
