The M60-120S was announced, what to expect?

But it is still a weird one, because he apparently forgot that the Nuclear Proliferation Treaty blocks the US to sell tanks with DU inserts.

That’s the reason why the Australian M1A1 AIM, despite it being closer to the M1A1 HA, doesn’t have DU inserts

The Australian M1A1 AIM still should have close protection levels to comparable US Abramses of the time. Iirc sources from the australian procurement or army were posted on the forum, saying that the DU armor was replaced with an export package that would offer comparable protection.

So it could be equipped with a turret that had that armor package. Of course I don’t know which armor package it was equipped with, I assume Necrons was also wondering this (could be wrong, so feel free to correct me on this bit).

The Australian bit is correct

The M60-2000 one?not so much.Sure,in 2000-2001 the US already had plenty of M1A2 and M1A2 SEP, but the NPT obviously excluded those last two. An armor package could be an option obviously, but it wasn’t offered by GDLS as a stock option, rather as an optional (just like the APU or the 2nd gen thermal).

So, considering that Gaijin is going with the prototype version (sigh),i don’t see the 120S having a M1A2-esque level of protection ever in this game

Thanks for the info!

And honestly, I think the last bit of your reply that I quoted is also better for the vehicle itself. With it’s current armor it can at least stay 10.0 (I feel that they might remove M829A1 though, but of course I don’t know for sure).

Giving it M1A2 levels turret armor would likely see it moved to 10.7 where it would instantly be pretty useless with it’s current 750 HP engine.

My thoughts on the future of this vehicle are not very good.

Right now,it is busted at 10.0,so i expect its BR to raise to 10.3/10.7. But it absolutely doesn’t have the mobility to keep up,so at 10.3 you’re basically a moving half-bunker asking to be shot.

If they MAYBE listened to reason and gave it KE-W and the 1200hp+Allison combo and put it at 10.3/10.7,it would’ve been balanced.

But no,they need to forcefully swallow the KVT/Wolfpack/Clickbait combo to other people, they aren’t satisfied with the absolute damage they’ve dealt to US win rates. And let’s not talk about the privilege treatment the Leo2A4 gets

So gaijin has ahistorically downgraded the 120S’s GPS from gen 2 to gen 1 on dev.

Ironic that they had it correct to begin with.

And yet they still think that the direct competitor of the Sabra III had a 1960s engine…

[DEV] 120S Gunner’s Primary Sight Incorrectly Downgraded // Gaijin.net // Issues

Bug report is up, but knowing gaijin they wont take a Raytheon brochure at face value so if someone has the direct link to that other 120S brochure I can add that in and that would be the two required sources.

More would always be appreciated.

M829A1, 56t w/ 750hp.

of all things the US tree needed it was not more glass cannons.

Wonder what its reload rate will be.

My god, even the History of the vehicle is poorly written,i know where they got those info and they decided to write a shorter paragraph only because they don’t want people to assume that this vehicle is not accurate to the IRL part.

Theoretically 5s like the other 120 abrams’

Same gun, same turret, and same crew complement (?)

I hope people talk about this in the comments, because this is just sad.

Its obvious that they are using the wrong information for this vehicle.

This is the M735 situation all over again.

How is it still not fixed?

What a joke, there is no information that states the 120S prototype that existed had the standard GPPS let alone even an installed FCS.

The only sight ever stated to be purposed or even installed on the 120S is the GPPTS.

I really should not be surprised at this point that another US MBT is coming in a butchered state due to gaijin just flat out ignoring documentation as this has become par for the course.

Can’t forget it somehow has DU ammo even though its intended for export, and is based on an M60 not an E60 even though its for export to nations that don’t use the M60, oh and the Sight still not being set up properly.

honestly the Super M60, M60AX or (at a stretch) Leonardo’s M60 SLEP would have been a better fit for a Tech tree variant.

I don’t recall it having DU armor on dev, just base M1A1 armor.

Did this change on dev without me knowing?

I am aware that supposedly it had a export package armo

Looks like the gunner’s sight situation might change hopefully. So that might be 1/3rd of the issues resolved, missing the hull ammo removal and the engine upgrade still though.

Busted? It’s an M60 AMBT that’s slower with a better turret.
It’s a way slower Ariete P with a better round.
It’s a slower ZTZ 96A with less armor and a better round.

@Lolman345
The only incorrect part of it would be the turret armor.
M60 120S is cited to have the same ammo storage capacity as M1A1, it cannot have that without hull storage.

I’m banging my head so hard right now
“Final production variant never existed,so no Gen 2 Thermals,no 1200hp engine”

And yet,the Yak-141 exists with most of the features it has that were never installed. But obviously a mock-up of a plane is still more realistic than a model that was built and exposed WITH A FULL FUNCTIONING 1200HP ENGINE AND GEN F***ING 2 THERMALS

God Forbid that USA can have a competent 10.0/10.3 tank, that bracket is reserved exclusively to the KVT/Pzbtl/TURMS/Christian II/2S38 players

INCORRECT LOUD BUZZER

At this point i’m even too tired to say what’s wrong with your incessant yapping regarding this vehicle and the state of US top tier, your blatant anti-US sentiment speaks for you
