Go try it in actual game instead of relying on misleading armor protection analysis that doesnt reflect how it actually works ig. Once you play nearly 2k games in Panthers you gonna experience it over the time.
And where exactly in that picture do you want me to shoot?
You can shoot the panther’s turret ring, the sides of the turret next to the gun mantlet, or the spaces to the left or right of the gun… but the HULL is not penetrable ANYWHERE frontally for the 5.7 jumbo
Once i get home from work i can show you.
WT players never cease to amaze me
do you have sardine in your name because you like sardines or because you have the brain capacity of a fish
I am a fish, and its hillarious when you get killed by MightySardine.
seems like a very reliable way to kill a panther at 100m-1000m with Jumbo 76
I’m not a US main, not even close, also the M26 appears in three tech trees?
panther has to aim for mg port or lfp to reliably pen m26 meanwhile m26 can go for turret, lfp and ufp at medium ranges.
The Panther’s UFP is insanely good. It bounces conventional rounds even coming from early Cold War tanks. I don’t know what standard M26 is reliably penning a Panther UFP…
youre using m82. carry a few rounds of t33 it absolutely can pen panther ufp despite what the statcard says
or just aim turret because yknow they cant hide it
Just tested, it can only defeat the lower portion of the UFP at extremely close range and even then it sometimes bounces. Nevertheless the fact still stands that the Panther UFP is not able to be consistently defeated by many threats at and above its BR. Also, the Italian M26A1 doesn’t get T33, only the premium M26 D.C. Ariete does. So that is just wonderful lol
Of course the Panther has many other drawbacks but the UFP is undeniably insanely good.
in the extremely unlikely scenario where both players are staring at each other frontally, at equal elevation sure you can say the panther ufp is better than the pershing one. but who cares? in any actual ingame fight, lolno
This is just not true. It is blatantly false.
The Tiger 105 also has 200 extra horsepower (for 900 total instead of 700, meaning a horsepower per ton of 12.45 compare to 10.03), gets a rangefinder making it far better for long range shots and the APCBC rounds also deal overpressure damage due to their explosive content being very high.
The Super Pershing is up-gunned in relation to the normal Pershing, the gun is still weaker than the long 88 in penetration (224 vs 237 mm). Yet the Super Pershing has the same reload as the Tiger 105, which has an even stronger gun. “39mm more of pen” only seems impressive because the normal 90 mm M82 round is completely unremarkable in terms of penetration. Even with those extra 39 mm of pen, the round still penetrates less than the German 88 mm Pzgr.39/43 from the KwK43 cannon.
It isn’t. The M26 has a higher top speed both forwards and reverse, and it has noticeably higher horsepower per ton, at 12.03.
The upper glacis of a T-44 can stop a 128 mm Pzgr.43 from a Jagdtiger or 120 mm T14E3 from a T34 at 100 meters while the M26’s upper glacis at the same range can’t stop 75 mm Pzgr.39/42 from a Panther. The T-44 hull is notoriously stronger.
Do agree that the turret is less effective though.
You’re hitting the turret front, below the mantlet. That’s not the hull.
The Jumbo 75 cannot penetrate the upper glacis of a Panther unless hitting the machinegun port.
I was in a rollercoaster of asking myself “what” while reading all of this.
90 mm T33 can’t penetrate a Panther glacis reliably past 100 meters, much less 400 to 500, so much so that changing the upper glacis angle from 55 to 56 degrees means you need to be point blank to reliably penetrate. In WarThunder, T33 is a mostly useless round that has no actual reason to ever be used over the others that are available. That’s why it’s the stock round for these guns.
In fact, at the same ranges that T33 can penetrate the Panther upper glacis, the Pzgr.39/42 of the Panther can also just penetrate the M26 upper glacis, while dealing substantially more damage upon penetration, since T33 is a solid shot round that relies massively on residual penetration (of which there isn’t much), while Pzgr.39/42 just explodes.
If you actually want to penetrate the Panther upper glacis with the 90 mm M3, then you use M304 APCR. Ironically it penetrates the upper glacis to a longer range (roughly 250 meters) and it deals more damage as well.
The Panther upper glacis is stronger than the M26’s, full stop. The thing is that the M26 has stronger armor everywhere else, be it the turret, or the rest of the hull.

kek yes.
it should go back to 6.3 as a competitor to tiger 1
The M26 completely counters the Tiger. It has noticeably better armor, a stronger gun to boot, and arguably overall better mobility.
Even if a Tiger angles its hull to make the armor as effective as possible, the 90 mm M3 firing M82 can just go right through the hull armor. Meanwhile the Tiger would have to aim for weakspots on front of the M26 even without angling.
The M26 isn’t a Tiger competitor, it eats Tigers for breakfast.
Right now, as a tank, the M26 is the strongest it has ever been. Compared to when it was 6.3, the gun is more potent (it fires M82 at a higher velocity) and the transmission has been improved, giving it better acceleration and a faster reverse. Additionally, when the M26 went to 6.7, a lot of tanks went up in BR as well, so together with all the smaller buffs that the M26 received since then it makes little sense to bring it back to 6.3. The problem is that it also makes no god damn sense for the M26 to be 6.7 when at that same BR there’s the T26E5, M26E1, so on, and just one BR step above there’s the M46.
The real answer is decompression. The M26 is by no means a “bad” vehicle at 6.7, it’s just completely overshadowed due to the horrible compression that Gaijin has forced upon this BR range.
