T-80B, Same BR and you can go through the mantlet, or the drivers port, and I know it is possible because I have done it in game several times
(From 1.5km)
And also, you mentioned hull down, which most eastern bloc tanks are incapable of doing in most situations.
But, if we’re talking hull down, the M1 has a significant advantage over eastern bloc tanks, with 10 degrees of depression and better optics.
And also, M883 wouldn’t make it any better fighting an eastern bloc tank in hull down
Hmmm almost like the wolfpack has like 4x slower reverse, 2.5 seconds slower reload, half the gun depression and non of the armor and survivability that the M1 has.
The reason why it’s pen is lower is because the reload compensates for it. You want more competitive pen, then Gaijin should reduce the reload as counterbalance.
Oh wow, you found a sliver to hit it at! Congrats! Now do that at 500+ yards in match consistently since there’s shell deviation. Whereas the M1 can get one tapped through the turret cheek and lower plate even at that range… and it would at least give a little bit more of a chance vice what we have. Not really making a solid argument as to why the M833 shouldn’t be given to it.
The M774 is more than enough at that BR. Come on, give me a reason why the M1 shouldn’t be on par to it’s own BR. Also, every 105mm at that BR is 5 seconds and have better rounds that even what the M833 would be so that’s not a valid reasoning.
Except it isn’t? It’s literally has the worst top APFSDS even when compared to other nation’s FIRST APFSDS. Heck, to add salt to the wound, the M1’s first APFSDS is the M735 with 292mm of pen…
Though idk why the 2A4 has a 6 second reload v 5 seconds like other 120mm tanks with similar turret design.
I have, several times in game actually, usually I aim for the mantlet on russian tanks because LFP sometimes only gets autoloader, and also M883 wouldn’t make any new weakspots, it would be literally the same “issue”, nothing would change
