The Lvkv 42 and especially the VEAK 40 Struggle. Multiple fixes exist-

The Lvkv 42 and VEAK 40 are hampered by long-standing issues that reduce their effectiveness and realism:

  • Ammunition Problems(McPuff reported issue 2 years ago)

  • Both fire HEFI and SAPHEI shells. While the L/70 barrel could technically be modified to handle these rounds (by replacing many internal parts to accept L/60-style ammunition), this was never done in operational use, and in the Swedish Army, the gun was only used in training. The modification is technically possible, but completely unrealistic and unreliable for combat.
  • The VEAK 40, once a decent SPAA, has become extremely underpowered. Its fire rate is too low, radar tracking is ineffective togheter with the exit velocity of 820 m/s makes hitting aircraft nearly impossible. Even straight-line CAS is difficult to hit, and the massive turret size makes it severely vulnerable.
  • Bug reports requesting historically accurate ammunition and proper velocity were ignored, and instead of improving performance, Gaijin’s changes effectively pushed it down a tier.
  • Muzzle Flash (all large calibre Autocannons really…)

    • Exaggerated for all SPAA guns with the “cone” / flamdämpare (flash dampener), making aiming extremely difficult.
    • Players repeatedly report this as a major problem, noting that it negatively impacts both anti-air and anti-ground performance.
  • The Ammo Belts

  • Gameplay Impact:

    • With the VEAK 40’s current state, hitting aircraft is nearly impossible, even against average CAS players. The radar provides limited guidance, slow projectiles reduce hit probability, and the large turret makes it hard to engage tanks effectively.

Anyway

Fixing ammunition properties, muzzle flash, and belt organization would make Swedish SPAA atleast somewhat reliable, especially addressing the VEAK 40’s drastic underperformance.

The Lvkv 42 suffers from the same issues, but since the U-sh 204gk came into the game nobody uses the Lvkv 42 for AA anymore and thus nobody notices its issues anymore. Its just used as an AT platform with the SAP-HE and AP now.

Personally I rarely see the Lvkv 42 in games now.

Both vehicles are to be brutally honest sad platforms

Hope this gets fixed soon. Sooner rather than later. Considering sweden only uses the 40mm and 20mm Akan m/45 (or “Akan 20/70” in some vehicles not in-game yet.)

sooooo- I know this has been beaten over the head so many(manymanymany many manyyy) times by now, But fact is- Sweden and other nations suffer by the incapability of the 40mm in its current implimentation.

Shame that VEAK is yet another victim of Gaijin’s double standard considering the removal of fake vehicles and weaponry.

Howso?

When a weapon is fake it gets removed from the game outright.
When a vehicle is fake it just gets soft-removed and hidden from further research, but people can still use it.

And how does that relate to the VEAK?

VEAK got its HE-VT shell removed due to being fake.

No, it got removed due to not being used by the vehicle, the shell exists.

Yes, VEAK using it is the fake part here.
Considering how vehicle removals are handled, HE-VT should still be a thing for people that researched it prior to the “revelation” that made it fake.

Waiting for the Swedish navy to come so we can get the ammunition…

Removed due to not being used by the vehicle, Could have used it but there is no proof it did and untill anybody finds anything so be the truth…

Oh, then i missunderstood. You wrote weapon at the start and i thought you ment the HE-VT didn’t exist at all.

This wouldn’t make any sense gameplay wise, in that case players wouldn’t know if they are facing a vehicle with or without a weapon (even at vastly different BR’s due to shell/no shell some vehicles don’t have a replacement until way further down the tree) when they see it as there would be no way to at a glance differentiate between them.

Keeping a vehicle for those that unlocked it makes a bit more sense (but i’m not personally a very big fan of that either unless new players have some way of getting it later on through things like SL crates or similar).

Edit:
But we’re getting a bit of topic now though.

Correct.

My bad, I worded it incorrectly.

I don’t see an issue in this.
You could even separate two vehicles and give them appropriate names, such as VEAK 40 and VEAK 40 (HE-VT).

Would need to add another vehicle that is false… And then figure out what players had the modification from several updates back…

No, just keep the original VEAK 40 and rename it to (HE-VT). Then hide it from research and add another VEAK 40 without that round.

Still remeber the current VEAK 40 does not have the round… So you would need a overly complicated fix rather than just simply fixing the ground issue… of the poor velocity-

It had the round, which is when this should’ve happened. Gaijin is really bad at handling these kinds of situations.

Poor velocity is definitely a problem, but this thing lost most of it’s efficiency when HE-VT got removed and getting that back is impossible.

Just like some certain “Japan” jet which doesnt utilize some certain 2.2M missile irl but it still gets it because it just can

Whats hilarious is that gaijin keeps giving away those fake vehicles (like Maus). And buffs non-existent stuff like flakpz 341 belts (80 or 90mm pen wooden mockup shots with wooden mockup he filler fired from 2 wooden mockup cannons mounted on wooden mockup turret?)
