Under the current gaming environment, the Leopard 2A4 is becoming increasingly ineffective, so it should be issued DM33 ammunition.
in which way? its still mobile, survivable, and wields good cannon with DM23s
Which part is survivable? Crew count and blowout panels? That’s cool and all but try to use this advantige with a horizontal drive the size of Texas and only APFSDS ammo since the more explosive things you carry, the more useles the blowout panels become.
Any shot that scrapes the bottom of the tank, angeled side shot to the engine or a shot LFP will make stational target practise for the enemy.
But I do have to agree 4 crew is great.
Big spacing, crew count, weak armor zones being as low as possible, and blowout panels, yes.
“only APFSDS” is enough to make Challenger or Vickers Mk7 explode after being hit to the side armor or the LFP. 2a4 doesnt have such, therefore its much more survivable.
Are we both talking about the Leo 2A4?
Yeah, the crew is spaced out but hitting anywhere near the turret basket makes the tank a vegetable.
The whole tank is weaky, the turret cheaks are a suggestion not to mention the massive optics on one side.
I’m not sure about the tea sipper’s ammo layout but it’s from 90% terrible.
Also isn’t the ammo stored in 2 parts? So smaller things that explode?
I did not mention this before but I think the Leo 2A4 is well balanced where it is rn.
Meh idea. I think later vehicles should return using lower quality munitions too, such as T-90A or Leopard 2A5 or M1A2
Therefore this is acceptable only if a C-tech 2A4 gets introduced.
I do feel like the 2A4 is kinda meh at the moment. I’ve had some insane penetrative shots against the turret cheeks recently and more 3BM60 slingers at 11.0 with the Arena hasn’t helped.
Logic behind the 3-piece ammunition is that all detonable elements (eg. the charges) can be stored below the turret ring and therefore hidden behind terrain when in a hull-down firing position. APFSDS projectiles are inert, HESH projectiles are mostly inert, and Smoke projectiles are stored in the lower hull.
Ou, thanks, makes sense, dead turret crew is better than exploded ammo.
