The Kh-38MT may not actually exist

They also added Brimstones and SBD’s, which most don’t think are as strong as AASM’s or Kh-38MT’s, but Gaijin probably thought of them as somewhat analogous regardless.

And to echo another comment, I also suspect more powerful CAS weapons to come fairly soon. I could see them adding an IR Brimstone as well as Stormbreaker, likely in limited numbers though.

Just to see, I also tested what roughly the terminal velocity is of the Mav in a free fall.

Spoiler

Not sure if this is a testament to how draggy the maverick is, or that bombs are too low drag, or just realistic. Anyway, it’s pretty draggy. Not sure if the mav would’ve gone even lower if given more time, considering it did have the benefit of banking off the extra speed from the engine. I like how the JDAM wasn’t even that much slower than the Mav for the distance traveled.

EDIT: The heavier (by about 70kg) 65G seems to be able to hold mach 1 though, just, despite being a bit heavier than the GBU-38. Though drag wise it makes sense, the blunt nose (for the IR seeker) is inherently going to be more draggy than than the nose of the JDAM.

So it’s pretty draggy currently. But mind you, the mav even correctly modelled to irl performance will probably not be amazing still. Well, at least don’t expect it to match the Kh-38 at all probably not even Kh-29. It will be better, but it won’t magically solve all the issues people point out with the Maverick.

Spoiler

Anyone happen to live in Washington btw? Near the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum? They apparently in the archives there have a document about the TX-633 engine (smokeless engine used on AGM-65D/G, etc, should have same performance as the earlier mav engine as well. Could be helpful information to complement my Mav bug report.

They have not added Brimstone 2s yet which would be the KH-38MTs equivalent, Only the Brimstone 1 and even then its limited to SAL only.

SBDs are GPS-Only weapon and again, are not even close to the KH-38s performance

we got it directly from Smin if i remember correctly that we will not get Ir brimstones because that would be ahistorical

Doesnt exist and gaijin have said they will never add a fake weapon, even as a short term placeholder. (and yet the KH-38MT exists)

We have to wait for MMW

or the french rafale with 8 missiles and a hmd

Yeah… but Typhoon having the SAL Brimstones it actually used would be too OP apparently.

or even it having its 8x AMRAAM fit

still no official gaijin reply?

nope

just because ppl keep asking if there was one, gaijin will not answer
i think it should be clear at this point

(and if they do you would probably know)

better to ask here and read a reply in 20sec rather than scroll through 750 useless replies

doubt that you are on the forums rn lmao

now that youre sending me notifications it will close though
have fun doing nothing useful

and the thread would probably be closed by the moderators, because we have gotten an answer and there would be no point in continuing this thread

yup. still no comment from gaijin…

Their answer to this thread are the new SAMs that are coming (it won’t change anything)

“Player stats suggests the KH-38MT is actually underperforming, so we will not be removing the KH-38MT but instead we will be adding the KH-38MA as the first and only ARH AGM in game”

yea SAM systems kinda close to Pantsir wont do a thing.

however update to a argument with some russia mains, I have witnessed my first person killed by a brimstone. admittedly it took a salvo of three to finish it off but its still a kill. so that’s brimstone 1, fake Zundewaffe 200+

god if gaijin actually make us wait for MMV until russia gets it, it will be so sad

I wouldnt necessarily say that it wont change anything (yet). We dont know exactly what SAM systems are coming or their capabilities.

That being said, i do have serious doubts most of the new SAM systems will help with the issue of standoff munitions. They will almost definitely have a large impact on all the other non-standoff CAS though.

Brimstone and Mavs are basicly limited to sub 20km shots, so its unlikely they’re gonna make it through this update unscathed. Helicopters are likely gonna be slaughtered, as all of their munitions currently in-game are well below even the short range of the IRIS-T SLS we know is coming. These systems also have very good short range performance, so low level runs are unlikely to work great either.

Im really curious to see what gaijins plans and modelling for these systems will be, cuz atm, I personally think they’re actually gonna be a net negative for the game. They are unlikely to punish the problem munitions like AASM and Kh-38MT, and might make all other non-standoff munitions effectively worthless, which would turn the CAS situation into an extremely binary one;

“Do you have standoff munitions, or do you not?”

If you dont, you might as well not even try.

I hope I’m wrong about this though, but in my mind, it just seems like a short-sighted attempt to resolve a problem which will only compound on all the other bad game design choices they’ve been making.
