Algeria made a purchase in 2020 these one were made after Crimean and Ukrainian ivasion sanctions whether they have French or some other country IR sensors this one exist saying that Russia can’t make IR TGP is delusion
Iirc they’re completely domestic.
Russia has been making their own IR sensors for quite awhile now, the quality has been all over the place of course but they are very much capable of it.
As for TGPs in general(regardless of if they have thermal or not) Russia isn’t incapable of making them and if you want to be overly pedantic they technically did they just weren’t removable and were a part of the plane, with the Su-24s or MiG-27Ks targeting system being a good example of this. Russia chose to not make them a separate component and it probably had nothing to do with manufacturing capability, (at least until the soviet union collapsed anyhow), they just never saw it to be something worth doing in their eyes until recently.
It’s still question will they adopt it or not all the recent alleged footage of Kh-38ML shows that it has been launched from aircarft and then laser guided by a drone so what’s the point using TGP if that can be done by a drone while aircraft can stay in more safer position
All over the mess*
They will never get anything close to 2, let alone 3rd gen.
On yt and X are thermal targeting clips from russian choppers. Does it even look like Gen 1?
A classic is the AGAVA tank sight from the 90’ties (i think). Ingame they’re gen1 quality, but irl screens look like…dunno you just see a huge white blip you can’t even identify. You just see that there’s a thermal source, impossible to identify.
Or,.on the grounds the typhoon carries less spear3s than the F15 can crry gbu39s and no FnF weapon of any kind. Just add GPS only spear3s now and then give them sal as well when they add gbu53s
only if they give GBU-39B Laser SDB, on the grounds that SPEAR 3 is jet powered and a miniature cruise missile
even then GBU-53 is main US counterpart to the SPEAR 3. trying to justify a weapons system nearly 20 years newer as a counterpart is disingenous
Then only if they give brimstone 1s FnF because the F15 has agm65s
the fact that america is fine for cas and we are asking for just a GPS guided bomb similar to that of the SDB for the typhoon and automatically the US needs a new weapon is like bruh
Agava and the thermals on the M1 (original) are closer to gen 0.5 IRL than they are gen 1.
those are practically museum pieces compared to brimstones. Though tbh I have no issue with MMW being added as long as it isn’t only for 1 vehicle
It is literally a miniature cruise missile. It’s a powered weapon with much better time to target than any glide bomb
It’s in a different class from SDB 1
Of course actual counterparts would have to come, unless you want Kh-38MT situation again
Id rather they wait and redo the radar codebase first. Imagine the TKing when the sidelobe illumination mechanic erroneously kicks in.
They could redo radar and release MMW at the same time ideally
One requires the other and iirc gaijin eluded to that in the GR4 dev blog when talking about artificial and natural interference etc. Its also why you dont see me pushing for the ARH A2G munitions for the USSR.
Fair point
(They have since removed it from their website)
Given Russia’s push for import substitution and the T220s development by a state-owned corporation, it’s likely designed to maximize Russian made components. So I wouldn’t say Russia isn’t capable of making them because they definitely are, of the second and third generation as well.
that still doesnt justified the logic of putting such gen 3 thermal on a explodable-disposable battery tho
and 25x zoom?
